Unabridged Audiobook
I love period detective novels, and was intrigued by this one. I felt like it had a Nancy Drew kind of vibe, a bit melodramatic and unrealistic.
the timeline of her employment and promotions is unbelievable, with no experience she goes out on her own and makes major breaks in the case, the whole story timeline seemed to be rushed and therefore improbable
City of Prey (Ava Gold #1) was a great read by Blake Pierce. Ava Gold is a 34 year old widower and single mom. In 1920s New York City, she claws her way up to become the first female homicide detective in her NYPD precinct. There is a psychotic serial killer who is murdering young women across the city. Ava will do whatever she can in order to hunt down the killer. Unfortunately Ava is alone to follow her instincts during this dangerous game of cat and mouse. Ava realizes that she may be the killers next target. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
Could not stop listening wanting more
Interesting story albeit a little predictable. I did enjoy the story.
what a surprise for me. It was a new author and series for me. I enjoyed the story and the way the narrator read it.
Slow start, but once the pace picked up turned out to be a good read looking forward to see where Pierce takes Ava Gold, worth the read
Enjoyed the story line and the reader
