Come Out, Come Out by Alexia Onyx Dual POV * Dark Romance * Paranormal * Horror * Drugs * Self Harm * Ghost MMC * Plus-Sized FMC * Queer Rep * Mental Health Rep * Suicidal Ideation * Grief * Loss * Unaliving * Forced Proximity * 257 pages * 8h08This was an interesting listen. It’s categorized as paranormal and horror, but I’d call it mild horror, and not gory. At no point was I creeped out or disgusted, it felt more like a dark, atmospheric romance with horror vibes sprinkled throughout. The narration, performed by Grayson Owens and Krys Janae, was spot-on. Every scene felt vivid and perfectly voiced. Our FMC struggles with depression and suicidal ideation. She eventually moves into a house with friends… a house where three people were previously murdered. Four if you count the murderer who was killed in the chaos. So yes, it's fully haunted. Our resident poltergeist loves to scare people away, but unexpectedly falls for our FMC, and things build from there. He occasionally becomes corporeal for brief moments… and that’s exactly when the spice hits harder.I really enjoyed the eerie tone of the book, though there’s definitely a bittersweet thread woven through the whole story. Please note: this does not have a traditional HEA, so if you need one, this may not be your vibe.
