Unabridged Audiobook
Great book. Narrator was terrific. From the front cover to the end of the story you won’t want to put the book down. The scenery and characters are vividly portrayed.
Great book! Narrator was awesome!
Brilliant. Wish it was even longer. Enjoyed it immensely.
its a great story and it is relaxing
Initially loved this book! Then it was like the author gave up The ending was awful!
“Coming Home to Island House” is an extremely well written book. The characters were well developed and interesting. I was moved to tears in some parts of the book, and laughed out loud in others so the author did her job as an evocative writer! I look forward to reading other books by this author. The narrator was amazing! She played all the roles and did a magnificent job!
Appalling! Is this what passes for fiction these days! Nothing happens. The whole story is just an intrapsychic picture of each characters emotional state, and how it connects with their family members. This is the first book on this app that I have just given up on. Just horrible!
I think the story was way to long and really wasn’t interesting until towards the end.
Enjoyable, but rather pointless, no real plot driver / objective and no ending to speak of. Narrator was wonderful.
Such a good story and good value for money! I’ve never read an Erica James before but her narrative and depth of characters was delightful. A new favourite author! You feel part of the story and feel the love through difficult war-torn Britain.
Great story and even better narration!
Really enjoyed this book. Love Romily as a character, so strong and fair.. And loved Jenny Funnell's narration...one of the best narrators 9n Audio books...PS. loved her on As Time Goes By...
I couldn't stop listening. I listened during times when I should have been doing other things. Tender book, that had me crying at times, but still couldn't stop listening. Narration was fantastic!
amazing book! loved every minute of it and even though there's a lot of characters it was not hard to follow at all
A friendly, positive book.
Great read. Interesting character studies. Kept me interested from start to finish.
I enjoyed this book. The author does a great job drawing us in to the lives of the characters. I did feel like there were some loose ends that needed to be addressed.
I thought this most compelling. All of the characters were well drawn and the action, with WWI as a backdrop, held my interest. I did dislike the narrator’s portrayal of Allegra. I winced whenever I heard Allegra sound like Natasha in the Bullwinkle cartoons.
Loved this book, looked forward to listening to it every night. Missed the characters once it ended.
A nice escapist tale. Pulled me along without making heavy demands on my brain—great before-bed read. I was sorry when it ended as I felt I had come to know and root for the various characters.
Great book. Love the narrator! I was able to imagine all the scenery clearly. I couldn't stop listening. I will defiantly check out Erica James other books for sure.
We really enjoyed it! There will be more Erica James in our future.
About twice as long as it needed to be
Narrator was excellent! Well written story but a bit sappy for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I totally felt like I knew what everything looked like! The narrator was very good. Smooth voice and she did a great job with different accents and voices so you knew who was speaking. I didn’t want to stop listening! :)
Excellent book which was very well narrated. Highly recommended.
Excellent book, entertaining from start to finish. I don’t usually listen to this genre, but I’m so glad I gave this a chance! Beautifully narrated and wonderful story
excellent
How excellent! I didn't want the book to end and I literally protested out loud when it ended. It could've been a hundren or two hundred pages longer!! It's my first time to listen to anything written by Erica James and it was such a nice surprise. At first I thought the story was going to be really predictable and banal but from the second part of the story, the story was nothing but unexpected surprises.
Great book! Talented Narrator kept me interested and anxious for the next chapter
Enjoyed this book very much!
Wonderful tale tracing women during the war. Narrator is fantastic.
A good read, although I enjoyed the story and narration more in Erica James ' Letters from the Past'.
Loved it
The narrator makes this book even more amazing
Great read, really enjoyed it
Loved this. Lots of rich characters, just downloaded letter from the past which seems to be a later part of the story. Hope it's as lovely!
I enjoyed the book. She developed different characters that you came to loathe and ones that you grew fond of they way they were portrayed. it appeared to me that the portrayal seemed pretty realistic for a member of the upper class during 1939 and 1940 as England entered the War. The narrator was good; however, I got confused sometime by the different British and Italian accents. I think four stars is appropriate as I looked forward to my walk everyday while listening to this book.
Narrator did great.
Great read. Couldn’t stop listening! I would recommend this to anyone!! I’m New to audiobooks and this was one of my first listens.
