Unabridged Audiobook
I enjoyed the first book. However, the storyline got quite boring by the end of book 2 and book 3 was just dragging on.
The writer is brilliant. However this is not a story I would re-listen to. Why? I felt exhausted after this story. It was darkness from start to finish. I get that in RL. I am not opposed to dark fantasy, and find many titles very compelling, but this work was pure dark, no good guys, no love, all war famine and blood. Realty is harsh enough. I don’t need to stick my head into another realm to get more of the same. I get than this was probably the point, but again I can read about the atrocities at Nanking, or of current international politics without a fantastic story. I look forward to more Eastern fantasy, but I doubt it will be from this author unless she can find a little light. I don’t need/want “Disney princess” but a little light in your stories would be a win imho.
