Summary
Nominated as one of America’s best-loved novels by PBS’s The Great American Read

A popular bestseller since its publication in 1844, The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the great page-turning thrillers of all time. Set against the tumultuous years of the post-Napoleonic era, Alexandre Dumas’s grand historical romance recounts the swashbuckling adventures of Edmond Dantès, a dashing young sailor falsely accused of treason. The story of his long imprisonment, dramatic escape, and carefully wrought revenge offers up a vision of France that has become immortal. As Robert Louis Stevenson declared, “I do not believe there is another volume extant where you can breathe the same unmingled atmosphere of romance.”

What a great book! The movie has always been one of my favorites, and while I found that it is not fully true to the book, I still love the story. The narrator was great as well and kept me captivated.

The "The Count of Monte Cristo" is remarkable in its story, and the intricate details of the plots and subplots behind the scenes. It made me an instantaneous Alexandre Dumas fan, and hope to listen to more of his books. Fantastic with impeccable narration, pronouncing the French names with ease.

The narration is second to none. Look no further! I've always heard references to Monte Cristo, but until reading this whole book, never understood them. This story is wonderful, and the level of detail in the writing is superb. My imagination was roaring the entire time, manifesting my idea of what the people, the grotto, the dungeon, the ships and the balls looked like. I didn't want it to end, but alas, I must continue my journey. Enjoy this thrilling ride of suspense and revenge, and wait and hope.
