Count your nights by stars, not shadows. Count your life with smiles, not tears.
1961. After a longtime resident at Nashville’s historic Maxwell House Hotel suffers a debilitating stroke, Audrey Whitfield is tasked with cleaning out the reclusive woman’s room. There, she discovers an elaborate scrapbook filled with memorabilia from the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Love notes on the backs of unmailed postcards inside capture Audrey’s imagination with hints of a forbidden romance . . . and troubling revelations about the disappearance of young women at the exposition. Audrey enlists the help of a handsome hotel guest as she tracks down clues and information about the mysterious “Peaches” and her regrets over one fateful day, nearly sixty-five years earlier.

1897. Outspoken and forward-thinking Priscilla Nichols isn’t willing to settle for just any man. She’s still holding out hope for love when she meets Luca Moretti on the eve of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Charmed by the Italian immigrant’s boldness, Priscilla spends time exploring the wonderous sights of the expo with Luca―until a darkness overshadows the monthslong event. Haunted by a terrible truth, Priscilla and Luca are sent down separate paths as the night’s stars fade into dawn.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was easy to get swept up in the story and I did t want it to end. Narrator was fantastic!

I was hopeful because the reviews were great and this VIP selection did not disappoint! Characters were wonderful, narrator brought them all to life with different voices and I loved the time flips. Don't let the Christian aspect dissuade you because this was a really good story.

interesting plot, good narration.

I enjoyed the historical facts and romance in this sweet story. It was wholesome and touching.

Profile Avatar HeatherNeff Jul 2025

I loved the characters but felt let down by the ending. There’s no closure to all three stories. I felt like the writer ran out of space and just said, okay we will do this. Tie a bow call it done. Disappointing. If the author ever rewrote it to include closure to the main story and finish peaches reach, I think it’d be a great book.

Lovely story about what a difference a person can make in the lives of others. Kept me guessing what would happen to the characters and a nice historical touch. Enjoyed very much.

This book was excellent and elegant! It discussed romantic love as well as familial love. It also demonstrated the importance of independence and doing what you think is right regardless of what other people think.

It was ok, but so unbelievable, I was disappointed

Profile Avatar S S. Jun 2025

The story was sadly predictable and a bit over the top. The narration made it difficult to listen to. The narrator used annoyingly exaggerated accents and ended many words with a breathy sound that was grating. Wish I could have liked it more.

Loved the characters.

Very much enjoyed this novel and hope to read more of this author’s work. Well researched and deep character development. It made me laugh at times, cry at times, and want to learn more about this time in history. Narration was great!

Very interesting story, loved it! Felt like the threat at the end of the book was unresolved though.

I enjoyed this story very much! It maintained my interest. The symbolism was well done. I

I really enjoyed this book, Sarah Zimmerman is incredibly talented. But I’ve noticed with this and Appalachian Song the beginning and especially the middle the story’s details are amazing. Towards the end of the book the page of the story speeds and the details lessen. Almost as if trying to rush the books along. They also don’t end very well, in this book specifically the wealthy but immoral prominent family should have been brought to justice.

Great read and loved the narration

Profile Avatar Kelly R. Apr 2025

Excellent, suspenseful book, written without the unnecessary addition of filth that is used as filler in so many other stories. Enjoyed it immensely!

Profile Avatar Lucille C. Apr 2025

There was little to no vouve change between Priscilla and Audrey which made it difficult to hear when the story was flipping back and forth

Profile Avatar Anonymous Apr 2025

Historically interesting. Lots of detail for step by step visualization. But too preachy and religious. Goody-goody.

Profile Avatar Smileykat Apr 2025

What a beautiful, well written story!

I loved , loved loved this book!the narrator was excellent and the story line was historically realistic. I also loved that it showed how being a Christian isn’t so black and white but it is all about showing love to all but especially the less fortunate . I’m about to listen once again!
