Unabridged Audiobook
Not my favorite Freida McFadden book. It seemed to drag on too much and the paranoia of the main character (Tegan) was too extreme. The thought that she had such a paranoia of the one character, Hank that just drove me nuts! I've read/listened to a lot of Freida McFadden books, but this was a disappointment.
Great book and narration but calling the baby Tuna almost ruined it.
The beginning of the book was good. The middle half was boring, it probably won't make any difference if you skip it. The last part was good, but it doesn't make up for the boring elements. I normally love Freida McFadden books but I can't recommend this one. It's a shame I waited several months for it to be released.
Rage baiting, man hating and the main character is so frustrating irritating this book was rough to get through.
Good story just a bit dragged out I had found
This book was interesting however, I found the FMC (Tegan) to be a little frustrating and didn't always enjoy the chapters from POV. I did enjoy the POVs from Polly and her underlying thought processes. I was able to anticipate some of the twists of this book and was overall left a little underwhelmed with the ending. I do not quite understand how the prologue fits with the rest of the book. (Mild spoiler) from how it read, someone was hit by a car/run over intentionally. This left me anticipating Tegans escape to involve running over someone with a car (either accidentally or intentionally). This wasn't brought up again at any point in the book and left me a little confused as to whether it was a memory, a dream or from a different characters POV (Polly or Hank -however it again didn't seem fit with either of those POVs). Overall the book was ok. I enjoyed the narrator however, I would have DNFed if I were eyeball reading this book.
struggled with the first half of the book, was about to give up but the story changed for the better. would have scored it a 4 if the beginning was better.
Loved it!
Definitely one to read or listen to!! The narrator did an excellent job!
The main character was annoying and unlikable. Referring to the baby as tuna and hearing its voice in her head almost made me not finish. Not her best.
A four day kidnapping that feels like four years. A main character who has an internal dialogue with her fetus. This book was as like a never ending spin cycle with the same thing being said over and over.
Follows her great pattern of twists
Wasn’t a fan
Love Hank
Good listen
loved the narration but def not freida’s best work
good listen, liked the unexpected twists, although I figured Enzo out from the start
Liked it a lot!
Great Story
Amazing
Interesting plot! I felt like the middle dragged along a bit but overall it was entertaining.
very good.
this was definitely an addictive story. I love this author!!
The narrator was good but this was not favorite story by McFadden. The characters were annoying. The main Character lacked any sense and McFadden made her seem very clueless. The storyline was good and the twists were good but it could have been portrayed nicer with better Character traits and dialogue.
Another Great book from freida McFadden. I’m getting through all her books and have yet to find one I don’t like. Love love love them.
i didnt see the ending. a great book
3 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I will say for most of the book, I was extremely annoyed at both Polly and Tegan. I didn't really like her brother either, especially when he was upset about her not taking the deal and wanting an explanation from her for it satisfy him. I was very mad at Jackson but he did redeem himself. But this woman could NOT catch a break. This was my first Frieda McFadden book and I don't think she's an author for me. It was just okay, but I did find myself wanting the book to be over and annoyed most of the way. Only the very ending was okay, but nothing that was creepy or realistic. Anyway, would I actually recommend this book? Honestly, probably not. I feel like this book/author might be one of those that is overrated in my opinion.
rarely do I not finish a book but this hit my short list. I could not continue to listen to the paranoid character. it was nails on a chalkboard.
Good storyline… nice twist to the story. I was frustrated with the main character throughout the book tho… I just kept shaking my head …. I’m also not 100% sold on the ending but overall it made for a good story with enough drama to keep going to see how it ends.
Not my favourite book or narrator
Very unexpected, very thrilling!
It was good but in the same way you can enjoy a scary movie where the actors continue to make dumb choices.
It was okey.
It’s written in 1st person.
Book was good! The last 2 twists were very unexpected for me which is always a good thing!! Not my favorite Freida McFadden but it was good!
This was just an odd book....
It was kind of slow in spots but I still recommend it!
I heard this author has some other great books but this was not one of them. Unless you have dementia or are leaning English and need someone to keep stating the obvious info over and over again. I was tricked because the first few chapters had potential. After that, the main character started to annoy me, as did the others. It seemed like someone put the manuscript into ChatGPT and said "Make this 2000 words longer". I say skip this one.
fantastic I love these books
I don’t get the negative reviews, It was a real flip flop as to who you trusted … suspense was there to the end
Great
Loved the suspense! Awsome ending.
Good book. Narrator was easy to listen to.
enjoyed the book!
Ok but repedative
great book
Freida’s books always have good twists and turns and this one doesn’t disappoint, in that aspect. Was slow in some areas and not as good as some of her other books, but a good rainy day listen.
Excellent
Might be my favorite book from her.
Got this as a VIP book with slim pickings. I was very surprised I really enjoyed the book. I would have probably passed it up with my normal credits. Whos says you can't get a good book with a VIP book?
Pretty corny. And, maybe a little too ridiculous in the end. The narrator made it so much worse
The Crash was exciting but at the same time it was almost the same theories as her other books…
I have read almost 3/4 of F. Mcfaddens books. Some of them are predictable. This wasn’t one of them. I think it was definitely one of her page turners.
Great book and story!
love her books
I loved all her books and this was not different … I liked the narration of the story from the perspective of each character… made me think about our own stories in our heads
This is a fun listen with lots of unexpected twists.
good book
I found this story just to drag out too long.
Reminded me of Stephen King's Misery in some ways...
Really enjoyed this. Lots of twists and turns, which made it a fascinating read. Fully recommend it.
Hank deserves his own book. The epilogue was a great addition to the ending.
I had to DNF this one, it’s the narrator voice, if I don’t like it i won’t finish the book.
Not a bad thriller book at all! I thought the narration was nice too.
good listen. Will recommend
I’ve read another title by this author and didn’t love it so I took a chance on this this one and I’m glad I did. This story was great and kept me guessing/kept surprising me the through till the end. This is one of the best books ive read this year.
A little repetitive, but overall a good story with some twists and turns.
I loved this one I couldn’t wait to listen to see what happens next!
Another Freida special! Something about her books are so addictive and I love it for a nice easy read! This one had a major twist at the end that bumped it from a 3 to 4 ⭐️. Enjoyed the aspects of the family and how angry it made me feel when they weren’t doing as I wanted! Another smash hit !
My first Freida McFadden title. Definitely had to suspend disbelief in spots, but for the most part the book was an enjoyable way to pass the time while driving. Not sorry I purchased this title.
Good story , kept me wanting to listen more than my usual walk time.
One of the better of her books I’ve read. Sending a theme of family betrayal, especially amongst siblings.
Had me on the edge of my seat till the end!
was very good but some of it was predictable some wasnt
Quite possibly one of the worst books I’ve ever read/listened to. I typically like Freida McFadden’s work, but this one was a maddeningly awful publication. The main characters made terrible assumptive decisions left and right. As a woman, I’m insulted that two female characters would be portrayed so idiotically. Everything about the plot was unrealistic. I thought the book was bad within the first two chapters, but powered through because I have abandonment issues and hoped it would start to get better. I just kept getting disappointed. I’ll never get those hours back. And for the love of all things holy, if I hear “Little Tuna” one more time, I might cut my own ears off. For anyone who’s actually reading this review, save your time and pick a different McFadden book. This ain’t the one.
Good book, Freida McFadden hasn’t disappointed me yet. This wasn’t her best book but still good and definitely worth the read!
Really enjoyed this story
The baby voice was a bit much, but good little mystery
I’m a fan of this author but this book fell very short . I found myself narrating the next words before the narrator spoke.all the substance was in laying out the characters and the the ending but in between was rap repetitive I could skip chapters and not miss anything.
Very unpredictable good psychological thriller.
Great book!
Blech. Unbelievable, not worth it
Very slow, barely made it to the end but I liked the narrator.
First McFadden that I have listened to good author
The story kept my interest and I liked listening to the readers
Great book and fun to listen to. Some of the decisions the main character makes are difficult to swallow, but makes it all the more interesting. I kept comparing and this book has a hint of “Misery” in the storyline. Fast read and interesting.
started a little slow. did not expect the ending
Great read.
I loved this book, as I do all Freida McFadden’s books!
Great book. Will start following this author!
Slow to start.. but good ending!
The storyline was interesting albeit a little basic. Overall, it was a quick listen and enjoyable.
Really great book and narration.
Great book. Suspenseful with great end twist!
It was more annoying than anything…paranoid characters left me feeling like I just wanted it to end!
The stupidest victim imaginable. Also ridiculously predictable. I can’t believe I listened to the whole thing.
Literally my least favorite Freida book ever and I’m a big fan of hers. Pretty bland narrative, I had it figured out a few chapters in and was just waiting for it to be over.
Kool
Enjoyed the story but the setting was the same for about 80% of the book. It was engaging for the most part and I enjoyed the twists.
fairly good!
This book could have been half the length. The beginning was intriguing and character development was good, but the middle part dragged. Ending was twisty and turns, but great!
