A full-cast dramatisation of Edith Wharton’s 1913 satire of marriage and money in early-20th century American society

SOON TO BE A STUDIOCANAL MOVIE STARRING SYDNEY SWEENEY, LEO WOODALL, AND MORE

When the beautiful and ambitious Undine Spragg convinces her nouveau riche parents to move to New York, she quickly injects herself into high society. But even a well-to-do husband isn’t enough for Undine, whose overwhelming lust for wealth proves to be her undoing. Will Undine ever find real happiness?

The first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for literature, Edith Wharton stands among the finest writers of early 20th-century America. With The Custom of the Country she delivers a novel every bit as immersive as her award-winning The Age of Innocence. The nuanced characters are brought to life by a stellar cast, including Rebecca Night, Dan Stevens, Barbara Barnes and Tom Hollander.
