Solid installation for the series but bring back the narrators from book 5! The previous Lyria and Lysander were way better fits for the characters.

It is my opinion, this is the best book in the series. Unexpected twists at every turn. I am anxiously awaiting book 6.

thought this was going to become more and more convoluted like many stories that lose their way, but the characters develop nicely (though through exceedingly good fortune and exceptional luck) and grow to set a,stage for even greater twists and turns for the Reaper, Virginia, Pax, Victra, and the others from earlier in the story. Well narrated by an excellent cast whose voices conjure the emotions and rem7bd the listeners of the bonds made between those who share common experiences that last forever. Bring on the next era of The Rising.

Easily my favorite book in this series so far (including LB). Coming from the previous entries you are in for a hell of an awakening. This book is dark, gripping, and jam packed with some of the best military sci-fi and political intrigue that I have ever read. It’s a non stop thrill ride from start to finish that you cannot bring yourself to put down. The tone of the content is downright brutal and does a great job of showing just how terrifying and hopeless it would feel to be on the frontlines of this technological hellscape that the protagonists call war. While the book fits its title perfectly, it still has a great sense of humor and many heroic and inspiring moments. I could not recommend it enough. Hail Libertas. Hail Reaper.

Love this series and this book is no exception. I like the narrators better on this title than the previous.

If it was possible for a mere mortal to pure into the hearts of man and monster, Pierce Brown may have the most credible claim to the title. The whole series is exceptional, however this particular installation exceeded my expectations. No spoiler. The cast of this audio was well chosen. The pace, the accents, the credibility of the narration immerses you in the world of tyrants and peasants as if you were in the battle or hiding in the gory damn closet. What you may end up saying to yourself, at the end, is: "Are you not entertained?!" or "I'm exhausted. I need to rest." Regardless, you will hunger for more. The only thing I would be remiss if I didn't mention - don't start this book at the beginning of a vacation or during a particularly emotion time in your life. You may not get any rest at all.

Probably the densest Red Rising novel but not as victorious. It is a relentless uphill battle without a prize at the end for the costs of war.

So darn entertaining!!! This universe is just so detailed and well built out. Only complaint is the narrator has changed and Lyria really has a different feel.

Love love love this series

Some stories and new characters are very far fetched in thisone, but overall a good piece in the puzzle of red rising. Liked the new narators better than in Iron gold.

This is an utterly incomprehensible sequel. How anyone can figure out what's going on with the first book as a reference is beyond me. The narrator, as with the first book is fantastic. I would usually be inclined to keep with it but this second book feels like there is a HUGE chunk of narrative missing. Such a shame as the first book was SO good.

I was sad to see a couple of the narrators change, most importantly Lysander. This is a good book but be warned to is hard to read at times, it reminded me of reading book two of the hunger games and finding out they had to go back to the arena. Only that same feeling happens almost a dozen times in this book, it was emotionally exhausting. Also, the amount of cursing is significant, like more than all of the other books combined by far. Not only that but the variety of “bad words” is worth noting. I know these aren’t kids books, and the violence far exceeds the foul language, it was a bit much for me. My desire to see this series to completion is the only reason I finished it, it is unlikely I listen to this book again. The original trilogy I love so much that I have read it 3 times, not so much with this one.

Well done again Pierce, Iron gold was a little slow but dark age kicked my by butt.

While the book is excellent I miss having 1-2 narrators like the other books. Having too many narrators was a little annoying, also some of the narrators simply read too fast making it hard to keep up.
