Dark Angel

As someone who has read all of John Sandford’s books, I don’t know what to think of this one. It’s just different. The plotting is different. The character development is different. And there are some things in it that had me scratching my head as to how this was John Sandford writing this, particularly the dialogue between characters. It was one-dimensional and even frustrating much too often. And the stereotypes and tropes became too common and the story itself seemed to wander. I particularly didn’t like how twenty-something Letty has suddenly become this bigger than life super-agent killer who always has the right answers, never does anything wrong, and is invincible no matter what she does. That wasn’t the Letty of her last novel or any of the Prey novels. There’s no sense of mortality or vulnerability to her. And pairing her with a female CIA bigger than life super-agent killer who comes away like an identical twin didn’t enhance the story so much as flatten it more. I don’t know what happened on this one, particularly after so many solid novels. But I’ll still get the next one.

This is an extremely difficult review to write. I really enjoy books by this author but this one not so much.

It's not bad but never really ges going

Pretty decent story, certainly timely, main character is likeable but the ending was too neat. However, I understand why, maybe the Russian villain returns.

loved Lettie and story. did not love the 2 female main characters that had identical voices. awesome plot!

Fast paced book.

Not up to usual standards.
