The people of Gander are showing the rest of the world how we can live our best lives. I was touched by their generosity and great big open hearts.

Fantastic book! Well written & well read. You get details into the happenings brought on by the events of 9/11, how resilent people are and how giving and selfless people can be. Especially in today's world this story resounds and reminds us to be those people.

Heartwarming

This is a different view of the numerous 9/11 books that are out there. It's the story of how one very small Newfoundland fishing village took in and cared for the passengers and crew of a large international flight that was grounded when American airspace was closed to all aircrafts. The generosity of the village and its people is remarkable. And those travelers who were grounded learned how gererous the villagers were who didn't own much but gave their all to make the stranded travelers feel welcomed.

Excellent book. There was lots of detail in what happened behind the scenes that I never could have imagined. Great story about how, in the face of tragedy, there are always helpers.
