Duration: 10 hours 5 minutes

Summary:

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Lucas Davenport novels delivers “a page-turner with a new hero, [and a] breakneck pace' (Minneapolis Star Tribune).

Former senator Lincoln Bowe, a Republican, has been missing for several days, setting off alarms on both sides of the political aisle. Finally, he is discovered in the remote Virginia woods, barb-wired to a tree, burned almost beyond recognition and missing his head. Democratic 'research assistant' (read: fixer) Jacob Winter, ex–Army Intelligence, wounded in Afghanistan, is called in by the Democratic president to unravel an extremely messy situation and shield his office from any hint of scandal. As this runaway train picks up speed, innocents are murdered, and the guilty come to Jesus. . . .

'Sandford is a master at creating believable, indelible characters like Winter. . . . [He] is peerless when it comes to economical, taut plotting, most notably at building tension. Dead Watch is anything but politics as usual.”—San Antonio Express-News

I am such a fan of Sandford that perhaps I am a hard judge to review his books. This was not one of my favorites and became predictable. I suppose I was also expecting an unpredicable ending with a twist.

First time that I have listened to this author. Enjoyed the book kept me interested and engaged while driving down the road. Made the trip go by quickly. Am Looking forward to listening to more of his books.

John Sandford is one of my favorite authors. This book is fast paced & it keeps you interested from beginning to end. I love all the twist & suspense in this book. The language is alittle much but as you get to know the characters, the rough language fits them to a tee. I enjoyed the book & would highly recommend it.

I am a huge fan of Lucas Davenport series, and this was as good as those. Written in much the same tone and tempo, Sandford thrills and twists during the story. I thought everything was wrapped up a bit to neat at the end, but overall a very good read.
