Summary
President George W. Bush describes the critical decisions of his presidency and personal life.

Decision Points is the extraordinary memoir of America’s 43rd president. Shattering the conventions of political autobiography, George W. Bush offers a strikingly candid journey through the defining decisions of his life.
In gripping, never-before-heard detail, President Bush brings listeners inside the Texas Governor’s Mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America’s most devastating attack since Pearl Harbor; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq; and behind the Oval Office desk for his historic and controversial decisions on the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Afghanistan, Iran, and other issues that have shaped the first decade of the 21st century.

President Bush writes honestly and directly about his flaws and mistakes, as well as his accomplishments reforming education, treating HIV/AIDS in Africa, and safeguarding the country amid chilling warnings of additional terrorist attacks. He also offers intimate new details on his decision to quit drinking, discovery of faith, and relationship with his family.

A groundbreaking new brand of memoir, Decision Points will captivate supporters, surprise critics, and change perspectives on one of the most consequential eras in American history – and the man at the center of events.

It's enlightening to hear Bush describe his decision-making process agree or disagree from inside the White House. It helps give a greater understanding of how he thinks.

It's a very high level, non-critical overview. Rumsfeld's Known and Unknown is a better read.

It was nice to hear G.W. give his side of the story without the spin of the media. The book was very informative and did not feel boring. I would recommend it to anyone who lived through his presidency as it serves as a good refresher to the many incidents that are often misrepresented and misqouted even six years later.

I liked how President Bush laid out the book by topics rather than chronological. I think his book should be required reading for our young adults, as well as any other president. It gives you insight on what it takes to be a leader, that life is complicated and messy. It is not made up of sound bites. I also liked knowing that President Bush believes in a higher power , that decisions are not made alone but through the council of many.

I appreciate former President Bush's honesty in this most difficult time of US history. I came back with a clearer understanding of what he saw and thought during those critical decision points. I appreciate that he read his Bible daily. I appreciate that he always tried to make the right decision, even if it was not the popular decision.

I don't usually read abridgements but there was no choice here and I wanted to read the book. It was very well written, and gave a good overview of each topic. I enjoyed it being read by the President himself. He is honest and humble telling of his experiences in the White House, making me admire him even more than before. It left me wanting to read the "rest of the story."
