This is, without question the single most boring book I've ever attempted to listen to. First, the author just isn't good at painting a picture of telling a story in a easily comprehensible or trackable way. He has a random'then this happened' 'them this happened' style that isn't particularly intelligently thought out. Good authors can paint a picture on the readers mind. Jeff Long isn't very good at this. Pair that with an uninteresting story and I found myself unable to pay attention because of how bored i became. I'd have to rewind 5, 10, 15+ minutes every session because my mind would wander uncontrollably due to sheer boredom and lack of interest in the story and characters. I tried twice to finish the book and just can't because I begin to lamemt the time I'm wasting listening to this audiobook. it's that bad. I'd sooner watch paint dry than try to finish this book a third time.

I have read this book annually for years. When I found this audio available the purchase happened. I finished the book too fast, but the narration and presentation was fantastic. And I can listen to it again whenever I want. Job well done to and author's work [Jeff Long] that deserves it.

Third time reading this book. I think I read the sequel twice. I can't explain why I love it so much, but it's gloriously creepy, lots of unexpected twists and turns, and it's gripping and visceral. I will say, the audio books app sucks. I couldn't make it keep playing on my phone if I didn't have the app open. But that's not the book's fault.

I've read this book before, I looked everywhere for an audio version of this book. I'm so glad I found it. This is a great read.

I like this book, but I want to love it. The concept is super intriguing, and a lot of the book is quite good. But at the same time it can (as a lot of Jeff Long's books) can be a bit of a mess, with odd tangents, and a random supernatural element thrown in a single paragraph, never being incorporated into the rest of the story in any way. When I read The Wall (really good as well) he did the same thing and it was like "wait, did i miss something?" and literally rewound looking for some part where I drifted away and missed a key element. Nope, that was just a random weird supernatural thing that poked up its head and then disappeared with no explanation. Anyway, good book, good writer, I love it, but just idiosyncratic.

Thrilling roller coaster than takes you to the only unexplored place on earth that touches many aspects of humanity! One of my favorite books!
