Unabridged Audiobook
I'm fairly new to Joe Abercrombies work having only listened to The Blade Itself trilogy. I found The Devils to be even more enjoyable and cannot wait for the next book in this series. Joe Abercrombie has a way of making each character he creates incredibly relatable. The stories he weaves are unputdownable. Steven Paceys narration is perfection. His comic timing is impeccable. It's as if he were born to narrate Abercrombies writing. I enjoyed this book more than I have enjoyed a novel since I read Steven Kings The Stand as a kid. Thank you so much Mr. Abercrombe. I hope you keep 'em coming!
Amazing! Joe Abercrombie‘s alternate history of Europe in the middle ages is a fantastic read. It’s subversive and morally grey in a ways that only Joe Abercrombie can do. And beyond that, Steven Pacey‘s performance is absolutely brilliant. The way he brings characters to life with different voices and personalities engages you from the first words to the closing paragraphs. It’ll leave you wanting more.
Best author there is and best narrator there is
This book has full of dad jokes. Basically one dad joke after another. Very hard to get through. One of my least favorite Joe Abercrombie books.
I am a fan of the writer’s previous works—especially his dialogue. This book, however, has far too much forced comedy, unrealistic characters achieving unrealistic tasks in a world that is a bit too contrived. If this was his first novel I don’t think it would have gotten published. I miss his past books.
While not high art or anything like that, I really enjoyed the first law trilogy. Hoped this would similar quality, but it falls incredibly short.
Although not as good as many of his orevious books, it's still better than most of the genre and deserves 5 stars. The narration is spectacular. He has a new voice for every character, man, woman, or elf. Brilliant.
OMG I never leave a review but this is fantastic and I love all of Joes works please next chapter fk fantastic
prose was good, narrator was great as always. the story was absolutely crap. I did hate any of them, I didn't love any either. in the end I was indifferent to the outcome and was sort of routing against the main characters because I thought they were so bad. pretty ridiculous coming from Abercrombie. hopefully the next one will be good.
Kudos to the talented narrator and author. This book is a wild ride! Entertaining, darkly comic and full of twists.
It was good
Great book!! Very welcomed addition to JA's canon!!
Story is fantastic, detailed and interesting. The lore building is immense but not overwhelming and the interactions between characters was funny at times but serious the next while still coming off natural. The narrator was also great with a wide range of voices and the ability to really make you feel what the characters do and mean.
I didn’t know what to expect with this book and to be honest the cover is what intrigued me - I know such a cliché. However I am obsessed with this book. I loved every minute of it and every character, especially Vigga. My first Joe Abercrombie book, but I will be reading/listening to more. Also the narrator did a fantastic job with the voices of each character, bringing them to life. Highly recommend this book!
Loved this book, can’t wait for James Cameron’s movie
I liked it
