Unabridged Audiobook
Set in a magical 1969, Ulysses and his family have a variety of magical and paranormal skills. Ulysses is a grad student that prefers to use those skills for side jobs instead of working on his dissertation. When destruction and doom keeps coming back to someone in the Madison area named Dionysus. Ulysses finds Sam, an archivist and whose first name is Dionysus. They have an immediate connection but then demons start coming after Sam. So they work together to defeat the coming god and save Sam all while they fall in love. This was such an interesting and fun story. The plot is a bit outside what I normally read but it was refreshing and kept me guessing what would happen next and how it would all play out. It’s heavier on the plot than the romance. Yet they’re also trying to save Sam and the world. I kept wanting to pick it up again and couldn’t get enough of Sam and Ulysses. I remember a lot of people talking about this when it first came out and when I saw the audiobook was getting released I leaped at the chance to finally read it. Scott Paige does a great job voicing both characters and the pacing kept me engaged. Dionysus in Wisconsin is the first book in the Wisconsin Gothic series. This was a new to me author.
