"The Urban Boys: Discovery of the Five Senses" penned by the author K. N. Smith is an interesting read. The story takes the readers to a small town called Danville Heights where people are glad to see each other. Kinsu, Chase, Alex, Jordan, and Rhee are five of the main characters in the story. One day, the boys went to the forest and weird things have been happening with them since then. An evil Druth overtakes the peaceful town of Danville Heights. Will the five friends with their heightened senses be able to save mankind and themselves from an evil Druth? Those who enjoy reading stories with characters having superpowers should go ahead with this book. This story kept me on the edge of my seat. The storyline is gripping and I enjoyed every bit of this story. Great work by the author in this novel.

Danville Heights has been a peaceful town for the past twenty years. Five high school friends: Kinsu, Chase, Rhee, Jordan and Alex are the center of this story. Initially their lives revolve around their high school life and homework. But as the story progresses, the boys go to a restricted forest to celebrate after the football game. Their senses increased. This incident linked the 5 high school kids to the event that happened twenty years ago. What will happen when the goons will attack the boys? Will they be able to save them and realize their newly found powers? There are evil characters also in the story. This story has action, adventure, fantasy and drama. I appreciate the storytelling skills of the author. The world building is nice. Characters are well written. The story is so gripping and interesting that it will stay in my head for a long time. Fans of young adult fantasy fiction should get their hands on this book

I enjoy Young Adult novels. Recently I read K.N. Smith's debut book 'Discovery of the Five Senses'. The story features five teen boys whose world was altered after they were exposed to a new energy source that heightened their senses to an extreme level. The boys have to understand their new powers and have to save humanity. The boys now have an increased responsibility. They have to keep themselves and their town safe from evil Druth. This is a great action-adventure YA novel that would win the hearts of teenagers and adults. If you are looking for a fantasy fiction to escape from reality for sometime then this book is great. The world building is done nicely by the author. This book reminded me of Harry Potter. Those who enjoy adventurous stories should go ahead with this one. Readers would be delighted to read this book.

Discovery of the five senses is the debut novel of the author K.N. Smith. It would be amazing to watch a movie based on this book. Danville Heights is a peaceful community filled with families disinterested in city life. One could feel the morning sun here as opposed to the evil town Sandry Lake. For five teenage boys Chase, Kinsu, Jordan, Alex, and Mark, their worlds changed when they were exposed to an energy source that heightened their senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. There is an evil ruler in Sandry Lake. He has knowledge of the newly awakened powers of the five boys. Will the boys protect others with their new strength and gift? My excitement is high to read the second installment of the Urban Boys series. Smith has done great work in her debut book. It is a riveting tale. You wouldn't want to put the book down until you finished it.

I love reading Young Adult novels. Recently I got my hands on the book 'Discovery of the Five Senses'. It is a captivating story that hooked my attention from the first page itself. Five high school boys ventured into an area they have been warned against. There, they received heightened senses. Soon, their town was invaded by evil creatures. Will the boys be able to fight the enemy to protect themselves and their town? They still are learning about their new powers. I enjoyed reading about The Dark Stranger. It's an interesting character for sure. The title of the story is suitable according to the contents of the book. The language used in the book is lucid and I was able to understand it easily. This book is for both adult readers and middle aged readers. Add this book to your tbr. It would be worth reading. Readers would have a great time reading this page turner. Go for it without any second thoughts.

Discovery of the Five Senses is a young adult fiction. It is a story of good versus evil. Danville Heights is a small, peaceful town with a small community. On the other hand, Sandry Lake is a dark town with an evil Druth. He had stage crimes to run folks out. The five high-schoolers: Kinsu, Chase, Jordan, Rhee, and Alex are close friends. One night after a football game, they went to a forbidden place where their powers were heightened. What evil Druth will do? The story is interesting. Those who enjoy reading superhero stories should pick a copy of this one. I truly enjoyed the author's writing and plot building along with how beautifully he described the characters. Can't wait to read the next one. Definitely recommended.

I really enjoyed the plot and thought the premise of the story was excellent. I liked the characters and thought it was well written. This is the first audiobook I have listened to with background sounds and music and I’m really not sure I liked it. I think my brain pieces a story together better with just narration. I liked the narrator and thought his voice suited the tone of the story well. I will be looking to read more by this author in the future!

Discovery of the Five Senses in audio was a 3⭐️ listen for me. I want to start by saying this book was completely outside the box of what I usually gravitate to in terms of genre. I’m a romance fan and where I like science fiction romance novels and young adult romance novels this book was neither. I’m not shy about trying new reads or listens so I was happy to give this one a try but I think it’s important to note before reading my review that I’m not really the target audience for this book so keep that in mind if reviews sway your decisions one way or the other. With that said I think the overall plot of the book was good. Five teenage boys come across a plant that heightens their five senses and they use those senses to fight off an evil threatening the world. It was definitely an intriguing story with some interesting characters but It was very descriptive and I think that if I had of been reading the book instead of the audio it would have been a little too drawn out… which leads me to my next thoughts and why I gave this book a 3 star rating which was the phenomenal audio. Glenn Steinbaum just did an outstanding job narrating. He had distinctive voices for each character and really just performed consistently well throughout. Then there was the sound effects and music that just brought you into a full and total experience. It was just really well done and executed and was the overall reason I finished the book because as intriguing as the plot was the story itself was just not my cup of tea.

I listened to the audio version of The Urban Boys and I would give the audio production 5 stars. It was narrated by Glenn Steinbaum, who did a great job with distinct voices for different characters. There were sound effects in the background as he was talking, which included suspenseful music and actual sounds like birds, crowds, etc. I would recommend this story to listeners who like comic books or graphic novels. The scenes varied between a narrator describing what was happening (almost like a sports announcer) and monologue/dialogue to describe events. The story is told from many points of view, so at times it seemed to move slowly, but the background music and sound effects helped it feel like it was still progressing. Because the narration continued over the top of the background sounds, the sounds weren't intrusive. I’d give the story three stars as it felt more screen play/graphic novel-ish than a full written story. I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Wow! I was utterly blown away and surprised at how much I thoroughly enjoyed and loved this world and its characters. I grew up as an avid fantasy, horror, and comic book fan, so my bar is high. K.N. Smith cleared it with ease. I'm a fan and ready to dive into more books. I'm also highly picky and finicky when it comes to narrators as well. Glenn Steinbaum knocked it out of the park and nailed each of the five MCs. I'm excited to listen to more books he's narrated. Even if you think YA fantasy isn't your thing, one-click this one! You won't regret it. To my fellow adult geeks, this should be required listening.

The Urban Boys: Discovery of the Five Senses was a thrilling YA fantasy novel. A group of four young men get swept into a mysterious whirlwind adventure. This captivating and fun audiobook journey played like a video game and audio play combined. The sound engineering was amazing. Early on, I found some of the sound effects a bit distracting while I was focused on the world-building. But overall, they fit the story perfectly and enhanced the intensity. Glen Steinbaum was a new-to-me narrator and I enjoyed his solo performance. His voice-over of the third person storytelling brought the graphic novel-style tale to life brilliantly. His characterizations were unique and fantastic. K.N. Smith’s writing grabs you and entertains from page one until the end.

This is quite a story! I liked the idea and thought process that brought this one to life. The characters have interesting lives and I enjoyed learning about them and their new powers. The flow of the story could have been a bit smoother with transitions. I listened to this on audio. The narration by Glenn Steinbaum is well done. This one has music and sound effects and they surprised me. I enjoyed the additive of them as they enhanced my listening experience.

Discovery of the Five Senses was definitely outside of my normal listening area (romance) and I was pleasantly surprised! This is book #1 in the Urban Boys series and does end in a cliffhanger of sorts. The author is so descriptive in creating the fight scenes and the ethereal-ness within the story. I could picture everything happening in my mind. I did have to listen to the first couple of chapters over to get all the characters down, but then we were good. I did get a little Stranger Things vibe, but this story was was different. The narration by Glenn Steinbaum was outstanding. All the voices needed for this story were ridiculous, but he performed them with ease. 5 stars!!
