In the wilds of Colorado, one Christmas changes everything.



In 1912, spirited Priscilla Cochran is determined to prove she’s a capable, independent woman. Leaving her comfortable life in Oklahoma, she travels to rugged Dogtown, Colorado, to become the town’s new schoolteacher—after assuring the hiring committee she’s a “woman of mature years.”



Mitch Beaumont, Dogtown’s hardworking councilman and widowed father, is weary of flighty young teachers who flee at the first sign of hardship. When twenty-year-old Priscilla steps off the stagecoach—and straight into the mud at his feet—he knows trouble has arrived wrapped in petticoats and big ideas.
