WOW! This book is going straight on my favorites list! Make sure you heed the trigger warnings. Do not expect this to be a sweet BDSM book or BDSM at all. Instead, expect depravity, sadism and explosive hotness, if you’re into that. It’s exactly the type of book I want!
I’ve been on a reading hot streak recently as I finally get to books that have been recommended to me, and this one has been rec’d so many times that I finally gave again. WELL, just like in another set of books, I wish I’d listened a lot earlier
A very curious thing about this book. It's not in the least erotic, although it is laced with kinky, twisted sex from start to finish. However, all those acts are strangely devoid of passion. Much of what should be steamy play is written with an annoyingly vague briskness---as if it's merely a bland business transaction
I appreciate being open to a new point of view, what friends I have in the LGBT community don’t talk about their love lives, and I don’t ask, and I’ve never thought to broach the subject of BDSM. Some books are meant to challenge the mind, to teach new things, to even give you a sense of accomplishment and so this has, A Feat Under His Heel.
I read what I read, and as always I appreciate being open to a new point of view, what friends I have in the LGBT community don’t talk about their love lives, and I don’t ask, and I’ve never thought to broach the subject of BDSM
This reads like the authors been thinking about this world a while and has quite nicely built it up - the flow was very good and I didn't find much to nitpick on.
This is FICTION. I don't expect my MM SCiFi fiction to abide by RACK or SSC BDSM rules. It's perfectly ok to me when you sign a contract to be a sort of slave and sadism is a part of it that things happen. And beyond things you agreed too.
If you are looking for a fluffy BDSM romance where safe words and stoplights are respected, this is not for you. If you want your main characters slightly more villain than antihero and your sex dark, check this out. You won't be disappointed.
This isn't a romance in the traditional sense of the word--two people don't meet, fall in love, overcome obstacles that threaten their relationship, then get their happily ever after. It's darker and more twisted, and weirdly, more realistic for it.
The author relies heavily on implication, never spelling anything out for the reader in black and white---and I love that! It serves the main character brilliantly
