Summary
An electrifying tale of deceit and obsession from New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl Mary Kubica

In downtown Chicago, Esther Vaughan disappears from her apartment without a trace. A haunting letter addressed to My Dearest is found among her possessions, leaving her roommate Quinn Collins to question how well she really knew her friend. Meanwhile, in a small town an hour outside Chicago, a mysterious woman appears in the quiet coffee shop where eighteen-year-old Alex Gallo works as a dishwasher. He is immediately drawn to her, but what starts as an innocent crush quickly spirals into something far more sinister.

As Quinn searches for answers about Esther, and Alex is drawn further under the stranger’s spell, master of suspense Mary Kubica takes readers on a taut and twisted thrill ride that builds to a stunning conclusion and shows that no matter how fast and far we run, the past always catches up with us.

Just was alright. It didn’t call me back to it. It was a chore to just finish it. It ended up being ok- I just wasn’t lol loving it.

I 'm not certain what it was about this book that made it difficult to finish. I eventually did and the ending had a nice twist that bought everything together, but it wasn't as good as her two other books.

I loved this book and thought the story was great. I didn’t have any problem with the narrators either. I feel like the male narrator was appropriate given his character description. Definitely give it a try, obviously after seeing the other reviews, I know it’s not for everybody. But I happened to really enjoy it.

I actually enjoyed this read. Added it to my collection agers ago after reading another Mary Kubica title and was put off by the poor reviews. Decided to give it a go between other reads and found myself drawn in to the plot. I liked the way the two main characters stories eventually came together.

Disappointing. Very slow and drawn out.

Kept hoping it would get better. First of all the narrating was horrible.. too disconnected couldn't relate to the characters at all. don't bother with this book.

I am only 30 minutes into this book and I can't listen to it anymore. I don't know if it is the awful narrator or the book. I should of read the reviews before downloading it.

This book was painful to listen to only kept on because I told myself it has to get better but it never did. I will say no more but I needed to consult my dictionary to look up words I have never in my life heard. I'm not stupid except throwing my money away. I had to forward and forward this in my hope, but forget this one!!!!

I actually had to stop listening to this book midway because the male narrator, Kirby Heyborne, was so horrible. He had no inflection in his voice whatsoever as he read. I think the book may have been good...hard to tell.

I will NEVER listen to another book that has Kate Rudd as its narrator! It's just painful. I think the book was pretty good, but the narration on both male and female parts did not do it justice! It would have been so such better with different narrators. Listen at your own risk

Another amazing book by Mary Kubica! A true thriller that keeps you guess but never knowing. The female narrator did a great job. The male narrator however sounded very robotic at points.
