Margaret Mahy is one of the very best childrens' writers. Her inventive stories and humour are both incredible and delightful. In The Downhill Crocodile Whizz, a crocodile is sent a pair of skates by his Grandma, and ignoring her warning sets off to have fun. In Elephant Milk Hippopotamus Cheese, a giant helps Weedy finally grow into her enormous feet. Absolute joy.
