Summary
Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849) is widely famed as one of the greatest writers of all time. He is best known for his works of horror, such as "The Tell Tale Heart." However, and this is less known, Poe also wrote many love poems. In this collection of forty-eight poems by Edgar Allan Poe we will go through a wide variety of themes, from horror and raw creepiness in "The Raven" to pure love in "A Valentine" to depression in "Alone." Throughout all of his poems Poe kept a very strong meter and rhyme scheme. This is most obvious in "The Bells." (Summary by Shurtagal)

Classic. Horrible narrator

Profile Avatar Richelle T Jan 2018

I have adored E. A. Poe since I was a child. I'll never not love his work. Unfortunately the narrator is terrible. 1. He speeds through too quickly, there are subtleties to Poe's work, there are times you must pause for affect and to make greater impact. He sounds like my high school classmates speeding through readings and never verbally appreciating the work. Also taking breaths at the wrong times. 2. His voice sounds like he needs to rest his voice for an hour between readings. Too grating rough and strained. 3. His readings sound as though he didn't practice beforehand as he stumbles over words and stanzas.

Poe at his best. Outstanding. Narration at its worst. Very bad.

The narrator sounded nasally.

it was ok.

I love Poe, but I can not simply get over how aweful the reader does. Talk about lack of passion in his reading. Bland!

Someone who knows his poems and has the love for his work should have been asked to do this. Complete disappointment.
