Summary
Sergeant Corbin 'Syn' Sydney had dedicated his life to becoming the best detective. So when he heard there was an opening on the notorious Atlanta Narcotics Task Force, he jumped at the chance. But, what he wasn't ready for was realizing just how lonely he'd made himself, when he observed the loving and dedicated relationship between the two men he served under: Lieutenant Cashel 'God' Godfrey and Lieutenant Leonidis Day.

Syn prepared himself to accept his lonely fate until he walked into a small pub and met the long-haired, tattooed bartender, Furious Barkley. Before Syn can even understand why, he's overcome with feelings he barely recognizes: passion, yearning, craving. And if the dark, lustful gazes are anything to go by, Furious might be feeling the same things for him.

Just two thing needs to happen before Syn and Furi can give each other what's been missing from their lives for so long . . . Syn needs to find the evidence that proves Furi's innocence of murder, as well as protect him from a past that refuses to let go.

Bottom line – I love alpha men who aren’t abusive, and this story gave me what I love in spades. While there is some inconsistency and the plot runs around some, I really just sat back and enjoyed Aiden Snow’s beautiful performance. Snow’s voice is rough and gravelly, deep and sexy, emotion-filled goodness and it serves A.E. Via’s over the top alpha men perfectly. I know, without any doubt, that this series on audio is going to go into my re-listen catalog. Dual POV romance with plenty of steamy hot sex, some humor, lots of action, some angst*, and a very happy ending. Series Recommended. SPOILER- *Trigger Warnings: Physical abuse by an ex, attempted rape.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first installment of this series. Aiden Snow has this sexy timbre to his voice that is perfect for these characters. As the narrator, he was able to convey the various emotions in this angst-filled story. In this book 2, a new detective Sergeant Corbin "Syn" Sydney moved from Atlanta to Philly to join Detectives Cashel Godfrey and Leonidas Day's unorthodox yet highly effective law enforcement team. While working Syn met a skittish bartender Furious Barkley whom he found intriguing in a way he hadn't allowed himself to consider a man in a long time. This created a tension between Sun and Furi because Furi was very comfortable with his sexuality and had been out of the closet for a long time. Then add in the fact that Furi was on the run and hiding from an abusive husband for the past couple of years. Syn and Furi had quite the obstacles to their new romance, and it gave this novel some angst. The mystery and suspense in this novel dealing with Furi's murdered co-workers wasn't difficult to figure out. It got the whole task force gang involved and added danger to this story. Syn and Furi were sweet, hot and entertaining together. I really look forward to the next installment of this series.

Embracing His Syn is the second book in A.E. Via's Nothing Special series, but you don't have to read to - or listen to - the first in order to understand what is going on in this one. The series centers around a group of cops and while they are all a team, each book follows a new couple so they can be read independently. Now let's address the elephant in the room: what's with the names? I don't know. They're really odd for a book that's set in "the real world", that's to say a world like ours, without anything paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi going on. However, I quickly grew accustomed to them, probably because the characters who have them are awesome. And there are a lot of characters. While each book has two main ones, the author doesn't neglect their co-workers and makes sure to give each a personality. Granted, most of them are testosterone-filled Alpha males, but she gives each a little quirk or habit to set them apart and makes me want to read - or in my case: listen to - more of the books. Embracing His Syn is not a comedy, but it's written with some humor in it, while keeping the focus on romance and crime, with the romance taking the lead and the crime happening around it. But even though I really enjoyed this book, there were a few parts that threw me off, in particular a couple of phrases in the first sex scenes ("received a sexy response" just sounds... weird) and the fact that one character had broken ribs, but was up and running soon after. The sex scenes are generally pretty hot though and the thing about the ribs is something I didn't even notice while I was listening to the audiobook and instead realized later, while I was thinking about the book, because it's a good book and I'll be thinking about it for while. As for the narration: Aiden Snow has the perfect voice for this type of characters... But they do sound similar. With so many males, all with deep, rough voices, I can't really expect a lot of variety - a single narrator can only do so much - and I only got confused a couple of times about who is saying what. Lastly, I feel I should warn you that about three hours in, there's a slight problem with the recording; it pauses, and I think a line or two are missing.

Audiobook Review: Embracing His Syn Story: 4.5 Stars! Narrator: 5 Stars for Aiden Snow Sergeant Corbin 'Syn' Sydney has come from a line of great police officers. Wanting to make a name for himself that isn't based on his father or grandfather, he is proud to become a member of renowned Narcotics Task Force in Atlanta. But moving from Philly he finds he doesn't have much of a life outside of work and it's apparent how lonely he really is. A stop at the small bar near his apartment and a glance of a intriguing and gorgeous bartender has Syn wanting to know more about the man. Furious doesn't make it easy though and while Syn tries to get him to simply say his name Furious struggles to decide if it's a good idea to let Syn in. His past has lead to massive walls around his heart and it's hard to trust a man who has never dated another man before. While Syn and Fury try to figure out how to navigate their new relationship, Syn and the boys are working on a case involving drugged and murdered Porn stars and surprisingly Fury might be involved. I love Syn and Fury! I definitely liked this book as a whole more than book one. I think mainly because I am a huge fan of Syn. Even in the following books I love Syn and his quiet brooding nature. He is a lot like God without that in your face attitude that God seem to naturally possess. Syn is more silent and calculating, serious and a man you don't want to mess with. He's also very sweet when in come to Fury. I liked Fury a lot as well and thought he was a great balance for Syn's broody and somewhat mysterious personality. Fury is nice and fun and has a way of taking the reigns away from Syn when Syn needs that. He's good around God and Day as well so he fits right in. Again I like AE Via's writing and I was highly entertained by the plot. We get the trouble of Fury's past as well as the porn star murders so there is tons of action on this one. I loved it. As for the Narrator Aiden Snow,he was awesome as always! He does such a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and making them even more larger than life. I think it’s his voice, it possesses a special quality to it that just envelops me and pulls me into the story. I’ve mentioned it before but I’ll say It again, it’s the great cadence and smooth flow when he’s alternating between the characters that I really love as well. He’s definitely a narrator I will be looking for when I am searching audiobooks.

Embracing His Syn is the second book in the Nothing Special series by the talented A.E. Via. I'm a huge fan of A.E.'s and I love this series so much. I had the pleasure of listening to it in audio and it totally amps up the sexiness and suspense! Aiden Snow's voice is so deep and growly and I just love it. Corbin Sydney, or Syn. He moved to Atlanta to join God and Day's task force. He's a good cop. Dedicated, fair, by the book and straight. Until he meets Furious. Furi is a tall, sexy, tatted bartender and Syn can't look away. He doesn't care that he's a man, he wants him. But he's not used to the feeling. He isn't ready to run out into the street and declare his intentions, but there's just something about Furi. Furi is running from his past. He just wants a fresh start and Syn is not the place to start. He's a cop. Not a good idea. But the more he sees him and talks to him, the more he wants him. This is all new to Syn and Furi's past comes back to get him. Can these two make it work amongst all the drama? I loved this story! My Lord, listening to Aiden is a fantastic experience. And hearing God and Day, Ronowski and Johnson is always a treat. I'm still fanning myself from Nothing Special! Overall, I loved the story, and the narration. I can't wait to get my hands and ears on Here Comes Trouble!

'Embracing His Syn' is the second book in A.E. Via's 'Nothing Special' series and every bit as action filled and sexy as the first book was. God and Day are back along with the rest of their team as they bring Syn on board as the latest member of their team. Syn finds himself drawn to Furi the sexy tattooed bartender at the neighborhood bar that Syn frequents but it's not a clear path to romance for these two men. Syn's never been in a relationship and Furi's just managed to escape from a nightmare of a marriage...when it comes to love and trust these two have some obstacles to over come and as if that's not enough Furi's life seems to be at risk and no one's quite sure where the threat's coming from. There's action, sexy times and alpha men to the max in these stories...these men are hot and probably NSFW!!! but definitely recommended.

Syn get a heck of an introduction to the narcotics task force courtesy of God and Day. He’s proud to become a member, wanting to prove he has the stuff to be as good as the rest of the crew. Celebrating his new job, he meets a bartender named Furious. Syn isn’t gay, at least he doesn’t think he is. But Furi is such beautiful man. He doesn’t understand his reaction to him. They tentatively begin a relationship. Syn is remarkably calm about being with a man. When Furi’s past catches up with him, Syn goes into protection mode, taking care of his man. Another great book in this series. I think the reason I like the books so much is how all the characters play off each other. Not afraid to show their feelings yet still tough when it’s called for. This book could be read alone but to get the feel for all the characters it should be read in order.
