Extremely boring and slow. Nothing about the story in unique in any way and at many times feels like a number of other much better Sifi series albeit slower and less exciting. The writing is okay but not good enough to make you stick around. Not sure why it has so many rave reviews.

This is a book that lacks anything resembling enthusiasm, excitement and thrill. I have never stopped listening to the narration with about 10% of the book left… this will be the first

Great job. It felt a bit long and I’m not sure I grasp all of the politics by the end, but I’m still eager to find out what happens next.

Starts to hook you!

takes awhile to get to the action but the level of detail keeps you hooked and sets the stage for the epic that is the sun eater series

I was hungry for something to fill the void while waiting for the finale of the Red Rising series… All I have to say is that I was incredibly disappointed. I suffered through the first, and had to quit a quarter of the way through the second. So many words to say absolutely nothing.

The narrator is amazing, but the main character is an overly dramatic anxiety ridden bore. The story goes out of its way to skip over victories and focus on defeats making it just less enjoyable. I'll give the next one a chance because I have nothing else i interesting atm; its not a bad book, but not one I'd recommend to a friend.
