This first book in Karen Miller's Godspeaker Trilogy introduces Hekat, an unwanted girl who is sold into slavery but for whom a different path has been chosen---a path that will take her from blood-drenched battlefields to the glittering palaces of Mijak.

The storyline is arduous at the best of times. After the book is half over I wondered if there was any meaning at all to the story. It may be that there is some mystery as to who is "the God" and to whom, however the reader is not compelled to go further based on what it took to endure this first novel. There are some great books out there now by Erickson, Donaldson and others, this book is not among even the mediocre. If your looking to start a new and interesting series, this one is not worth the cost.

this is the best book that I have read this year Karen Miller takes this story to the next level .
