Summary
The Hollisters, a bright, spirited, wholesome family, are compelled to move into the country. After many efforts to secure a home, Shirley, eldest of the Hollisters, contrives a way out by renting a magnificent old stone barn at a ridiculously low price, transforming it into a house. The owner of the barn is not an ordinary landlord, as you will see, for he is a young man with fine ideals, and he is not content with establishing Shirley and her family in the quaintly beautiful old place, but makes the world a much happier place to live in for all of them. Was most surprised by the twist, thought it was just a romance brilliant idea

Good, old-fashioned Romance, with some action to it. It’s interesting to see how much writing has changed.

Cute book. The narrator's accent takes a bit to get used to, but she does a good job.

A great book to relax and escape from tension. I found The Enchanted Barn to be on spot for anyone wanting a clean read. The narrator did a terrific job of articulating each word. She was one of the best.

Charming and wholesome, old-time story. While narrator’s enunciation was clear and distinct, the pronounced accent was distracting.

Charming, reminiscent of earlier times with a higher moral code and no apologizing for having a faith in a higher power but definitely not preachy. The only distraction was the announcement between chapters stating the book was from public domain.

What a delightful enchanted story of intelligence , humility, tenderness , generousity with little mystery throng in . Much enjoyed ! The narrator was terrific !

This is a lovely, old fashioned book. I didn't think the reader was the right fit for this story. Her accent didn't change with change of character and I think a softer accent would have been better.

Excellent story. If life were only so. Reader was great also. Wish I had read it years ago, but glad I didn’t because I enjoyed it now. Even though the story is fiction it is believable. Very well written and without sexual exploitation although the butterflies in the stomach gave the reader a sense of what was being felt.

A pure lovely fairy tale. Tender and sweet with a spunky heroine. A perfect read for this terrible year of 2020.

I’ve always thought this is a very romantic book, even though the only kiss in the book is the Mother kissing her future son-in-law! My only problem with the recording is the statement at the beginning of each chapter of the name of the book, the author, the narrator, and that it’s in the public domain. Okay, I got it! I don’t need it every time! Still enjoyable though.

THE House of Seven Gables was new to me, never read any Nathaniel Hawthorn. Good Story, wordy but made comfortable by the narrator. He was very accomplished and has a pleasant voice.

I loved this book! I couldn't stop listening! A lovely story, with liveable characters! I got a kick out of the speech that they used back in that time!!

I heard this book on my road trip to Florida and back (whenever it was my turn to drive). It was enlightening how a simple book that did not include any fairytale creatures had me so involved and looking forward to the next chapter. I absolutely loved it, and it took me back to simple times were men and women where looked upon so differently and yet to simply escape from today and have a vivid description of how it once was.

Nice escape book. Typical of the period in which it was written. Reader's accent was a bit disconcerting at first, as was interpretation of youngest child but one gets used to it. Good job!
