Unabridged Audiobook
Gena Showalter has built an interesting and sultry world with her Alien Huntress series and I enjoyed returning to it in the 2nd installment, Enslave Me Sweetly. While I enjoyed the 1st book and I really liked one even more. Why? The heroine and hero. I found Eden and Lucius a hotter and more likable couple. Eden is an otherworlder, an alien. After her parents die when she was young, Eden has been raised by her now boss, Michael who is human. Eden is a rare breed of alien where she has golden skin and hair. Humans have hunted her kind in order to skin them and sale their hair and skin because of the gold that’s in it. Lucius is a human that is partnered with Eden on a case to bring down a slave ring that’s been kidnapping females to sell as sex slaves. Both like to work alone and what nothing to do with the other, professionally. But they are draw to each other sexually. Eden and Lucius are both capable fighters and agents but Lucius gets all alpha man on Eden and wants to protect her. And she wants to prove herself the proficient agent that she is and earn his respect. As the two works the case to bring down the slave ring they get closer and have some very steamy times together and I find myself rooting for them to have their HEA. Gena Showalter has built a complex world with great characters with the Alien Huntress series and I can’t wait to see what happens next and what hot couples she brings to the pages. Justine Eyre narration of Enslave Me Sweetly is just as entertaining as her narration of Awaken Me Darkly. She has a silky and smokey deep voice that works well for both the female and male characters. It’s hard for a female narrator to pull the male voices off well sometimes but Eyre does a great job and she still manages to make the females sound light and feminine. Her pacing is impeccable and she hits the sexy and snarky parts perfectly.
