“Essentialism holds the keys to solving one of the great puzzles of life: How can we do less but accomplish more?”—Adam Grant, bestselling author of Think Again

Essentialism isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done.

Have you ever found yourself stretched too thin?
Are you often busy but not productive?
Do you feel like your time is constantly being hijacked?

If you answered yes to any of these, the way out is the Way of the Essentialist.

Essentialism is more than a time-management technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

By forcing us to apply more selective criteria for where to spend our precious time and energy, the disciplined pursuit of less empowers us to reclaim control of our own choices, instead of giving others the implicit permission to choose for us.

Essentialism is not one more thing to do. It’s a whole new way of doing less, but better, in every area of our lives. Join the millions of people who have used Essentialism to change their outlook on the world.

I have to admit that I am very disappointed. It is ironic that a book so relentlessly advocates essentialism is so non-essential: repeat the same materials emphasizing the importance of essentialism in different ways over and over again. The importance is justified without the need of any emphasis, otherwise I would not read this book. My problem, which I believe might also be the problem for a lot of others, is how to differentiate the essential from the non-essential. To this point, it looks like the author has failed to provide any meaningful suggestion, let alone insightful framework or process or logic flow. If I recall correctly, the only suggestion I see is to increase the threshold of your decision. If the candidate is not 90%, then don't make decision. What a waste of time.

would love to read this book again. although we all know many of these things, putting them down with examples helped me a lot. I would recommend it to anyone. narrating is also good for a non-fiction book like this. This is one of the books to read once a year to keep a check on yourself and be an essentialist.

Thought provoking and motivational. Will take 2-3 readings to have it all sink in and effectively apply. Worth the cost and time.

This entire book could be condensed into an online article in less than 2000 words. It's more of a guide for senior executives and even then, there isn't going to be anything new that they would be learning. It's not that there isn't some good information in this read, but it's pretty much basic common sense and he rehashes it over and over and over in an attempt to make the book longer I guess. The dangerous aspect though is that most blue collar workers would be terminated following his recommendations.

It was longer tha it needed to be - which is pretty funny considering the topic. Had some good ideas and suggestions on ways to better focus.

Words of wisdom that carry over to every situation in life.

Interesting concept, and it started off quite good, but unfortunately I felt it became a bit pretentious and self-congratulatory by the end.
