When 1990s engineer Charlie Wickett accidentally wakes up forty light-years from home, she finds herself aboard an alien starship devoted to rescuing creatures across the galaxy. With six months until the Emberkind can return her to Earth, Charlie throws herself into impossible engineering problems, intergalactic animal rescues, and the ship’s wonderfully chaotic crew. Somewhere along the way, this strange little crew starts to feel like family—and Captain Reyna Solas starts to feel like something more.
