Unabridged Audiobook
**An absolutely gripping thriller from beginning to end!**Michael Connelly delivers a fantastic story filled with suspense, clever twists, and an investigation that keeps you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you've figured things out, the story pulls the rug out from under you.The characters are compelling, the pacing is excellent, and Jack McEvoy's determination to uncover the truth makes this an incredibly engaging read. The final sequence had me on the edge of my seat! The tension, the danger, and the way everything unfolds are unforgettable.I listened to the audiobook, and the narration deserves special recognition. Peter Giles's performance, combined with the suspenseful background music, takes the experience to another level. The atmosphere is so well executed that I was completely caught off guard by some of the revelations, despite usually being good at predicting twists. And beyond the thrilling investigation, I found the story's exploration of DNA privacy and the potential misuse of personal genetic information especially compelling and relevant. An outstanding audiobook with excellent narration, an intelligent storyline, and genuinely heart-pounding suspense. **Five stars without hesitation. Highly recommended!**
Other than the Ballard books this was Connelly's weakest effort yet. Disjointed timelines and uninspiring cast. Not to mention the author can't help but inject his liberal politics into his writing.
