Unabridged Audiobook
DUET narration for the #win! I enjoy listening to Tim Paige narrate stories! He’s been a go-to narrator for me since the start of my audio era, and he did an excellent job bringing Xander to life for me! This was a first for me with Shiloh James and I absolutely adored her performance as Sophie! *heart eyes* •• I really enjoyed this story! Like really really hard! I love how swoony it felt and how organic the relationship grew between Xander and Sophie, and I especially liked that when it came to “dramatics” (because we all know they’re coming at some point), the author made it as realistic and authentic as possible. MAN do I appreciate the heck out of that! Was it cliché? Yes, yes it was! LOL Was it beautifully unfolded without any unnecessary ridiculous add-ons? YES, yes it was!! I liked the story up to that point, but I fell in love with it after that! •• Fake as Puck not only developed and unfolded really well, but Sophie & Xander grew as individuals and as a couple all together as well. This story is like watch a rock roll down a hill in a perfectly straight line! Everything happened for a reason and that reason was the ultimate goal of any romance fiction story … the ️sweet spot️! •• I didn’t get to *read* this story but something tells me that I would have enjoyed it just as much had I read it. Sarah Smith is a new-to-me author with this story but you bet your pennies I’m reading and/or listening to the rest of this series and keeping an eye for new releases moving forward!
This is such as feel-good fake dating romance that it had me all gooey inside. I fell for Xander hard. He’s a fun-loving hockey player who loves the ladies. Then, lightning strikes in the name of Sophie: the new team doctor. This romance is a journey for both Xander and Sophie. He needs to grow up and take life a bit more seriously which he starts doing while fake dating Sophie. And she’s been too sheltered as a child prodigy, entering university at 14. Her main focus has been medical school so with Xander’s help she starts to explore and have fun. And the fake relationship is not so fake anymore. I loved experiencing these two falling for each other. Xander is so sweet and romantic, he just melted my heart. Whoa and the steamy scenes left me fanning myself. Tim Paige and Shiloh James narrate in duet style. Paige’s performance really brought the cocky hockey player to life while also showing Xander’s tender side. James has a delicate quality to her voice which is perfect for Sophie and her naive life experience. And as the story progresses, she showed her range of giving Sophie a backbone standing up for herself. This is my first book by Sarah Smith and I really look forward to more from her and book 2 of this series.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and loved it. It was exactly what I needed, something light, sweet, and romantic, with a touch of spice. Xander and Sophie were pure sugar together and their chemistry was divine. I love the author's take on the fake dating trope as well as the coach's daughter trope. It was refreshing to see the lack of drama revolving around these two tropes. I also loved the way he made it his mission to show her how she should always be treated. Xander was just a marshmallow and I was here for all of it. The narration by Tim Paige and Shiloh James was excellent and really brought this book to life. If you want a feel good, sweet and spicy hockey romance, I definitely recommend this one.
