A great tale! Multi-faceted not only describing the cop culture of the times (beyond the cliches), but also the socio-cultural and economic climate Glasgow of the 80’s. A period of change when the city was shedding its mid-century depression and investing in its renewal. Well narrated, even if all the accents weren’t Scottish! Looking forward to this author’s next novel.

A solid crime novel with good characters and story, well paced and well written. I loved all the Glasgow noir. The authors local Gorbals knowledge was evident as was his police experience. The narration pace was good, but it was quite flat in tone and I felt the emphasis on many of the sentences felt off. Some of the voices attempted were bad. He did some other accents which were decent but I didn’t understand why he used them (other than to try and differentiate) and was off-putting Overall a good first book

An average read, being a whodunnit, it keeps the listener engaged right up to the end. Written by an ex policeman, it gives some idea about the lives of Scottish policemen in Glasgow.

Sadly the narrator put me off completely. I tried to stick with it but in the end I had to quit!!

Wow! For a first book, this one is stunning!!! Great storyline, a new kind of detective that I really just love and none of the standard clichés that seem to appear in so many other books! What a great author and someone I will be looking for from here on out!!!! I can see why there are so many five stars on both the author and the reader! A great listen that will have you cheering at the end!
