Summary
The Fifth Season: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! *
At the end of the world, a woman must hide her secret power and find her kidnapped daughter in this 'intricate and extraordinary' Hugo Award winning novel of power, oppression, and revolution. (The New York Times)
This is the way the world ends...for the last time.
It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester.

This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Listen to the first book in the critically acclaimed, three-time Hugo award-winning trilogy by NYT bestselling author N. K. Jemisin.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

I dig the storytelling and the social issues that it touched on. The narrator was splendid. Very good read/listen. I look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy!

Narrator was captivating. Did different voices in a way that wasn’t overwhelming or confusing but really breathed life into the characters and made them their own. The novel is exceptionally written. The first few chapters may be confusing because it is a new world and a a new perspective and you’re really getting introduced to everything but honestly, just trust the book for until about chapter 4 and I promise you won’t regret it! My top 3 books of the year so far

Excellent book. The plot followed 3 people at different times and settings which was a very interesting and refreshing pov. Though the characters are different, I easily related to all 3. The plot was revealed at a great pace. I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the narrator. I notice some narrators have a hard time changing their voices throughout the story and other people, which is something I thought she did a great job with.

OK so when I started the book I thought ‘huh not really sure if I’m going to like this’. All kinds of new languages, new concepts never explored. Before I knew it I was completely engrossed by the end I was left with my mouth hanging open! The author is a true storyteller and the narrator is excellent. I can’t wait to read the other 2 books in the trilogy.

I purchased this book because it is the first book of a trilogy that won the Hugo award three years in a row. I assumed that any novel that wins this award must be a good book. I was not disappointed. I found the story captivating and at the end I could not wait to continue onto the second book of the series.
