Unabridged Audiobook
I was a new mom when the story broke of the young activist (even though she hated that title at the time) being shot, point blank, in the head by a Taliban fighter. My husband and I held our breath as we waiting and prayed for her to make it through surgery and to the hospitals in Pakistan to Europe for treatment. My next thought was, if the Taliban can't kill a 15 year old girl, shooting her, point blank in the face, how are they killing so many women and children. I also remember reading all the negative comments about her as she was growing up into this beautiful young woman and finding her place in this big world of ours. I remember being so indignant and angry on her behalf and then I realized I knew nothing about this girl. Sure, I watched her speak a few times her story always moved me, going to school isn't a right here, it is the law, we HAVE to go, so it is easy to take it for granted. I learned way more listening to her read her book to me and I laughed and teared up a few times, it is a fantastic book and I hope she continues to speak and write a d fight for girls and women's rights.
