Wow! Fantastic, light-filled, hope-inspiring insight! Not just for men, but all who are seeking a way of life less driven, irritated, fearful, angry, controlling, judging, condeming, using, wasting and all the other negative trappings humans individually and collectively fall into at one point or another when guided purely by self interest. This easy listen, abridged version gets right to all the Cliff Note points of the 1991, still VERY applicable, unabridged book. A micro to macro explanation of base humanity, where the man/woman fits into the grand scheme of life, how to find then strive for true peace-joy-contentment as humans were designed to become with care for our planet versus the warring, controlling, contesting madman hacking and slashing one's own selfish agenda way throughout life leaving a wake of distruction to self, relationships, family, community, and planet. While the author does not get caught up in the dogma of religion, he does point out and use as a guide throughout the book that there is something beyond human intellect, reasoning, and willfulness that needs to be grasped in order to walk healthily by wisdom and understanding. The one way leads to selfish, dark, controlling motives/actions with a heavy hand/footprint at some point, and the other way leads to selfless, light, accepting ways with a lasting ease to self, others, and environment. Takeaway: a MUST read for everyone! [Audiobooks.com listener note: This abridged audiobook has no chapters or introductory headings, just a musical interlude between the Cliff Note takeaway the unabridged book taught. As well, it has several, irritating, 30-second recorded sections of silence that did not get edited out; so just let audiobook play on until narrator picks back up where left off.]
