After The Poisonwood Bible and Demon Copperhead, I was disappointed. This is a generous 3-star review. Frankly, Flight Behavior was tedious. Each time it seemed that something interesting could happen and carry the narrative along, the author veered back into writing about butterflies - the subject which seemed to me exhausted long before the end of the book. There were several interesting seeds of thought (there could have been an exploration of the lives of people who came from Mexico, it would’ve been interesting to hear about Bobby and his complicated family ties, a more complicated version of Dellarobia’s relationship with Ovid, or even about Dovey and the very young man with the dimple-adorned chin), unfortunately, the low hanging fruit did not contain seeds, nor did they germinate or sprout into something to hold the reader’s attention.

Loved the book!

I like the message behind the book but it was so slow. I almost stopped listening on a few occasions. Narrator has more of a monotone voice that doesn’t lend much excitement to the characters. I know many people have recommended the book but i do not see why

Barbara Kingsolver is a wonderful author and so many pieces of this book ring very true to life in rural America. I was disappointed the ending suggested a single mother could support herself and her family doing university research.

Excellent. A great learning experience about monarch butterflies, climate change, scientific analysis, All woven and gently to a story about self growth, love, family
