Unabridged Audiobook
I have read this book before but it has been about 20 years since. The narrator did an awesome job in reading this book on Audiobooks.com.
Honestly I didn't expect this one to be as good as it is. As a struggling flight student myself, I may be a bit biased, but the book's psychological depth, not only on warfare, but on the art of aviation, was for me an insightful, engrossing experience. The author very clearly lived the life of his protagonist and has been able to translate its ethos to us with all of its terror and bravery and regret. What else are books for? Even if you aren't particularly interested in aviation or war, there is plenty to be enthralled by in this book. Action, love, politics, and pathos, all of it told with a keenness that only comes from truth. Impressive, and only one star lower for the somewhat flat female character and her ensuing, if not reliable, distraction from the main plot.
Found this hard going and boring couldn’t get into it
