Peter Rutherford had just wanted to go for a walk and get to sleep.

Instead, he found himself dragged into a war which had been raging for millennia, in which all he could hope to do was maintain the status quo. Until, that is, he conceived of a way to end the war, once and for all.

But there is always a price to pay. Especially when the innocent are involved.
