Summary
Meet Forrest Gump, the lovable, hurculean, and surprisingly savy hero of this remarkable comic odyssey. After accidentally becoming the star of Univerity of Alabama's football team, Forrest goes on to become a Vietnam War hero, a worl-class Ping-Pong player, a villainous wrestler, and a business tycoon -- as he wonders with cildlike wisdome at the insanity all around him. In between misadentures, he manages to compare battle scars with Lyndon Johnson, discover the truth about Richard Nixon, and survive the ups and downs of remaining true to his only love, Jenny, on an extraordinary journey through three decades of the American cultural landscape. Forrest gump has one heck of a story to tell -- and you've got to read it to believe it...

This book is terrible. It is nothing like I expected. The narrator is terrible. The wording isn't what I expected either and even though I always like the book better, in this case, you're much better off skipping this and enjoying the movie.

I did enjoy this book, expected it to be different from the movie but it was a little unbelievable, but after all it is a story. I didn’t like the way Forrest pronounced the word ask through out the book.

in my personal opinion this is a great book there's a reason why it was the best seller before the movie ever came out but I do believe that you should listen to it without any train of thought about the movie They are two totally different stories that are both great

Well, this one is difficult to give a review on. For one I don’t understand at all how they took this story and made the movie out of it because it is completely different. This is only the second book I’ve listened to that is worse than the movie, but not every book can be a winner. I give it three stars because it’s kind of all over the place, but I think the narrator did an excellent job so 5 stars for him.

This book is great! I read it back when the movie came out. Books are always different than movies and typically better. This one is so much different and in most ways it's much better. I found myself laughing out loud in my car whilst listening. If you're a devout fan of the movie, you may not like how much different it is. I love both, I've watch the movie probably 20 times and love the book even more. I thought the narration was good, not the best, not the worst. I found it a bit slow, so I increased the speed to 1.2x and found it better. I can't believe someone would rate this a 1/5 and call it "terrible". They don't make blockbuster movies based off "terrible" books. I would recommend this book to anyone. But keep in mind, it's narrated by a person from the deep south, born in the 1950s who has an IQ of 70. Enjoy!

Was actually eye opening. I enjoyed the story and the first person perspective of a simple minded person raised and living in the Deep South in the 60’s . If you're expecting the touchy-feely feel good movie narration, then you will be disappointed and let down

Skip this one. Annoying read, so many uses of the words “anyhow” & “anyway”, and the mostly unfunny “I got to pee” moments. The movie did this story so much better, but if you really love the movie like me, it was kind of entertaining to listen to all the bad parts they chose to skip or redo for the movie.
