Unabridged Audiobook
I wanted to read something informative for Black History Month and further educate myself. Four Hundred Souls was really a perfect pick for this. I learned so much about African American history. Since there were so many writers involved in this project, I felt as if every point of view was covered while simultaneously staying on topic of African American treatment in American. I will say that some of the statistics didn't add up. One writer said African Americans account for over 30% of the American population while another said over 50%. African Americans only account for 12% of America's population so both those statistics were very off. I think they may have been including all people of color to make their numbers seem more impressive but that doesn't make sense in a book exclusively about the African American experience. I feel like the editing was lacking there. Other than that I really enjoyed this.
