What exactly is money?  Bernard Lietaer supplies us with this definition:  “Money is not a thing; money lives in the same space as a marriage--in a space of agreement.  Money is an agreement within a community to use something as a medium of exchange.”  Lietaer gives us tremendous insights into the origins and nature of money throughout history.
