I love complex granular stories from history. This filled in huge gaps in my understanding of the lead up to the destruction of the World Trade Centre buildings in NY. What a complex mess! So many deceptive competing characters and interests in all contributing elements to the events of 9/11. Coll did a great job of giving space to a vast list of participants and making clear how difficult the conduct of the US government is for anyone to navigate it. His mastery of interconnected religious, corporate, family and historical aspects of the societies in the swirling Islamic world of the 80s and 90s was enriching for me.I am thankful to Coll for his work
