Summary
Trust No One. Especially Your Neighbors.

Rachel Drake is on the run from the man who killed her husband. She never leaves her safe haven in an anonymous doorman building, until one night a phone call sends her running. On her way to the garage, she is murdered in the elevator. But her story doesn’t end there.

She finds herself in the afterlife, tethered to her death spot, her reach tied to the adjacent apartments. As she rides the elevator up and down, the lives of the residents intertwine. Every one of them has a dark secret. An aging trophy wife whose husband strays. A surgeon guarding a locked room. A TV medium who may be a fraud. An ordinary man with a mysterious hobby.

Compelled to spend eternity observing her neighbors, she realizes that any one of them could be her killer.

Such an interesting read. A very different point of view on the murder mystery. Would highly recommend but can't review much so I don't spoil it for others

I am an absolute sucker for a ghost story and this one did not disappoint. I really did love this unique take on the “ghost story”. It was giving “rear window” meets ghost thriller. I don’t know if there are any TWs in the physical copy of the book but there is discussion of DV and some gore descriptions, at one point I said “OKAY GIRL WE GET IT” but it’s not an overall theme of the book and only comes up in a few “scenes”. This book has all the paranormal/supernatural tropes that I love so dearly including a little Satanic Panic moment with some teenagers. It was woven in a way that I found to very exciting and refreshing. There were several moments that had me with my jaw on the floor. While the ending did kind of feel like a balloon slowly deflating, but it was just because it was giving “so anyway they all lived happily ever after” vibes (even though several of the character did in fact not live happily ever after). It was still a great ending, but I think the adrenaline from being so “omg what’s gonna happen NEXT” to “oh wow it works out for everyone and now the story is over” is really what’s giving me that vibe. Because of who our FMC is and what is happening with her, there is ALWAYS something happening and now at the end with things wrapping up, it’s like an emotion crash. Narrator was fantastic and kept the story interesting throughout. Overall, this was an amazing listen and I’m so glad I took a chance on it for my VIP selection! Because of how I felt for the first 10ish hours of listening, I will be rating this 5 stars, the ending just felt like it was missing a little bit of the same razzle dazzle.

Really interesting whodunnit with so many intertwined stories and crimes relating to one building. The pacing is great, with information doled out and mysteries solved just as more appear. Many interesting characters but not so many that you lose track of who is who. Also very good narration. Fun read! Couldn’t put it down !
