Summary
Headstrong Journalist, Anna Rothman knows what suicide looks like - her own husband killed himself five years earlier. When Elly Swift, an agitated passenger beside her on a train, leaves a locket in Anna's bag before jumping onto the tracks, Anna starts asking awkward questions. But everything points to suicide and the police close the case.

Anna, however, believes Elly's fears for Toby, her young nephew, missing since being snatched from St Stephen's church six months ago, fail to explain the true reason behind Elly's distress. Through a series of hidden messages Elly left behind, Anna embarks on a dangerous crusade to track down Toby and find Elly's killer.

But nothing is as it seems and Anna opens a can of worms that throws into question even her own husband's suicide - before the threads of the mystery converge in an astonishing conclusion.

Wouldn't recommend it

Good story, a little far fetched. I think I enjoyed No Longer Safe by this author better. I like that there was hardly any bad language as it was not needed. Narrator was very good.

Good book and the authentic accent was great

Profile Avatar Dermot L. Nov 2021

Tediously overly described, over use of simile, adjectives, and unnecessary detail. Feels very contrived.

I enjoyed this audiobook. The story had a bit too much cooincidences that tied everybody together but was still well planned. Liked the narrator allot.

Not the right book! But it was still great to listen to

This book took me a minute to get into. I can't blame the story as I was pretty tired on my 2hrs commute at the start. Once the story got rolling, I was hooked. Very clever story, I really did enjoy it and hadn't figured it all out on my own for a change, which was refreshing. Very original! Great narration!

I got this book thinking it was the "Girl on the Train" being made into a movie. My mistake turned into such a pleasant surprise! I loved this book!! It was a great mystery that left me guessing until the very end. I found myself taking the long way home until I finished the book. Highly recommend.

Excellent. The depth and chronological structure of the book continues to keep you engaged and thinking. The author development of the characters pulls you in to their emotions which aids in the building of the suspense.

This isnt the book I thought I was choosing as 2 with similar titles. I did enjoy this audio book though captivating and the ending was a surprise. Thoroughly enjoy listening on my commute to work and home.

This wasn't the book that I intended to read but I think this has a better story line than The Girl on The Train (the movie that I saw).

Fantastic listening. It kept me interested the entire time .

Profile Avatar Barbara Gitt Oct 2016

I really enjoyed the book! It dragged a little at the beginning but the end was fast-paced and for me, got somewhat convoluted. I thought I had it figured out but liked the surprise ending.

I enjoyed this book very much, and the narration was wonderful. I am amazed that someone can read so smoothly and do all the characters so well. The English accent made it so authentic and the book had a surprise ending. Well done.

A bit slow and then got pretty weird when it sped up.

Profile Avatar Pamela Howard Aug 2016

I found it a bit slow. There was not enough suspense to keep me from falling asleep at night, and missing chunks of the book.

Profile Avatar Jo-Anne Lopez Jun 2016

This one was relatively suspenseful but a bit slow.
