This was a great book. It was hard to find another after reading this one.
l really enjoyed this book. l have read alot of legal thrillers but have always passed over this author, but that Is changing now. l very much enjoyed this book and have just ordered another to start tonight. l think it might be a very late night for me!. l think both the author and narrator get five stars for this work!
For me this was a true five star.
It keeps a wonderful pace with plenty of twists and turns. The writers ability to tell tale of strength and survival was brilliantly done.
You will not want to set it down.
I enjoyed this book very much. Exactly what I was looking for in a book. I highly recommended to anyone
This was my first Karin Slaughter book! I have found a new binge favorite! I was so happy that I couldn’t predict the ending and was on the edge of my seat the entire time!!
A good book. Keeps you guessing up to the end!!!
I usually like Karen Slaughter novels, however, this one ... eh?
It started off with one crime scene and then evolved into another unrelated crime. I did not care for the characters and their relationships with each other. It was a book with too many side stories that didn’t come together very well in the end.
This was my first Karin Slaughter novel... Great job! I was interested and engaged the whole way through! I am already listening to my next book by Ms. Slaughter. The narrator is one of the best I've heard so far!
I loved this book! I couldn’t turn it off. First time reading a law thriller. And I’m hooked. I definitely recommend!
The f word used way too much. Did not like the characters, and no mystery. A mean book.
The narrator was phenomenal, the book pretty meh I really struggled to finish this, even while painting and doing everything to get my house on the market followed by a fifteen hour move. Pretty predictable, the only likable character playing a minuscule enough role that he only popping up enough to remind you that he was a good guy.
Went into way to much detail. Would have been a great book if the story was cut in half by omitting all the detail!
I loved the dynamics between the 2 points of view shared by sister protagonists-- great vantage point. For me, this book was 75% awesome, but unfortunately there were points where the storyline look overly dramatic dips... I felt like if the author was told to keep the content but shorten the length, it could have been great. Still an engaging and entertaining read/listen with great narration!
Hats off to Karin Slaughter this one kept me wanting more and more. Was sad to see (hear) it end.
The story line kept me very Intrigued. Loved the personality of each character. I really enjoyed this book.
This was my 2nd book by Karin Slaughter and I was not disappointed. she does tend to be a bit too descriptive but I'm getting used to it! I felt an attachment to the characters and even cried a couple times, that's something that doesn't happen often for me. I enjoyed the mystery part and hated to see it end! it's also the 2nd book with this narrator, love her too!
Great book. I didn’t want it to end.
This is a great book and a fabulous narrator.
WOW! I am blown away by the narrator’s beautiful voice, she really brought the characters to life. And they were written so well, each one so complex. I love the way the book went between the past and the present. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. Absolutely loved this one and will search for more from this author.
This was book was great! The narrator did an amazing job!
My first book from this author. My daughter recommended I read some of her books. Not disappointed, love books with good endings.
This was an extremely well written book. I have listened to it multiple times and I still feel goosebumps at every plot twist.
I really enjoyed all the action in this one! Kept my attention and I couldn’t wait to drive anywhere so I could listen! Narration was good as well!
Loved the book. I like Karin Slaughter's writing style and Kathleen Early did great with reading it.
This book should come with a trigger warning. School shooting, small child dying, infertility… just so much sadness with characters that weren’t incredibly likable. I would not have purchased this knowing how heavy it is and I do love crime books. The only saving grace is that it’s unpredictable
Loved this book! Definitely worth the read. Will be reading others by this author.
I must have been in the mood. But the book hit the spot! 17 hrs of excitement.
This book was disturbing good. It was a book that made me look at a very different types of relationships and character action. I would recommend reading it.
This book was so good. Karen Slaughter is a great writer and Kathleen Early brings it to life
I love everything about this book
I found this book very disturbing and wonder if the author came up with such detailed and twisted-unending amounts of violence because the author lived this kind of life? Or perhaps grew up in the midst of a mafia town or Epstein island? The of twists and turns which were intriguing but too unbelievable. There really were no decent people. While perhaps the book tries to make the reader see the good and bad in everyone, all it really did was make this reader feel like this was trying to be written from someone on the spectrum with no real empathy or “theory of the mind” . If the author is going to describe mom’s “heart and brain tissue” all over a house and a horrendous attack but then skirt over the damaging and life long effect that would have on the psyche or the craziness of staying on the same town. Just unbelievable..unless maybe people live like this somewhere and if they do, plug me back into the matrix!!!
I enjoyed the story. I liked the backing up and filling in of details from each character's point of view. The narration was also easy to hear. Overall good book though I sometimes felt that she could have found more ways to tie together all the characters rather than just these separate totally violent things that just happen to happen to the same people so many years later. Other than the unlikely coincidence, though, I really liked it.
Great book which took up two whole days of travel. Perfect!
This book pulled me in right away. I couldn’t stop listening! I recommend it!!
Excellent narration! Storyline was sad but wanting to listen more!
I have listened to several of this authors books... I really like her books but this one just did not do it for me, was better towards the end but she does have better reads!
great book. a little repetitive at times but it was for effect.
I thought this book would NEVER end! Way too many details! And the two main characters are extremely unlikeable. If the constant arguing between the two of them had been cut back, the book might have been fair. I definitely won’t listen to #2 in the series!
I really enjoyed this audiobook.
Interesting read with the main characters being relatable and imperfect. I enjoyed the legal setting and how it deeply impacted the daughters.
I enjoyed the story, but the constant repetition of certain events became boring. The story was good but could have been great with some judicious editing. Also agree with another reviewer that the location was a cliche of a small southern town that seemed to be populated with only assholes...a more realistic balance of good beside the evil would have made the novel more believable.
I enjoyed this book. Great character development.
Moved along quite nicely. Suspenseful lots of twists and turns
One of my new favorite authors!!
Enjoyed this book but I listened to the prequel and want to know what happened to flora??!
This is a great book- I bout died laughing atleast 3 times!! It totally describes a Georgian Dysfunctional family!!! I know- I’m from Georgia!! Not only was it hilarious, it was interesting and well-written!! Also the narrator was excellent!! I loved the Rusty character!! I’m gonna be looking for a sequel!!!
I miss it already!!!
Enjoyed very much
My biggest complaint about this book is that sometime the author went into too much detail or repeated events too many times. One of the main events was re-told three different times and it was difficult to listen to the first time, let alone the second and third. I understand she was telling it from different points of views but I didn't need to hear the gruesome details over and over and over. I got it the first time. Other than that, pretty good story and characters.
I really enjoyed this book .. of course I always enjoy Karin Slaughter.
Narrator was good also and kept the story moving along .
This book kept my interest all the way through. I liked the way she interspersed points of view from each character as it happened. Very interesting.
Great book. One of the beat I have listened to in 2018!
This author was my first book , I really enjoy this book . She kept me wanting to finish the book faster . I really recommend this book
Awesome read. Well written, tight, fast paced The narrators did a great job telling this book with just the right amount of drama All in all excellent
Incredible, suspenseful, and most importantly, well read. The Narrator is extremely gifted and incredibly adaptable to so many characters. The narrator put Slaughter’s story over the top-kudos to you Kathleen Early!
Such a great book! I couldn’t stop reading—loved the twists!
I loved the book and characters I could hardly stop listening! Fantastic!!
This was a good book. The narrator was marvelous. Kept my interest and I didn’t guess the ending.
This is more than just a crime fiction thriller. It's also a character driven plot. The characters are memorable and elicit empathy. The writing is fantastic. The author really knows how to make you feel what the characters are feeling. I really enjoyed it.
it's I very good mystery book
Certainly kept me entertained but the characters are not very likeable
Narrator and Book kept me interested from beginning to end. I didn't agree with the sentence Kelly got.
Narrator was very good but the storyline was weak and predictable
Really enjoyed this book. I? found it hard to quit listening.
I? love suspense, psychological thrillers, and this was certainly a great choice. You start out with the characters as children then move forward about 30 years, and go from there. It was incredibly intriguing and I? loved every second of this book. It gave me JUST enough info to keep me wanting more.
I? absolutely loved it! Karin Slaughter might just tie with Gillian Flynn and Jodi Picoult in my mind!
Great book and the narration was fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes murder/suspense/thriller books.
Great novel for anyone who likes suspense, mysteries, and great characters. Narration was superb. I thought the twist(s) was a bit weak but still totally compelling & engrossing -- didn't want to stop listening.
Great book. Gripped me from the beginning. Never wanted to stop listening. Narrative or did a good job. I never guessed the truth or ending.
There is nothing better than a Karin slaughter novel. This story brought out many emotions for me as do most of her books. I didn't want the story to end however it was good. I would love to see these characters in a series they were that interesting. Five stars all the way as always with her novels and I absolutely love this narrator I wonder if they give awards for narration.?, Because she would get one.
I really enjoyed this book. Was a bit overwhelmed at 17 hours but truly shocked how fast it went. Lots of storylines that all come together. I was pleasantly surprised
Really enjoyed this book, it is not like anything I have read before. The narrator was great!
I loved this book, everything about it there was never a dull moment.
Well written. Witty and clever. Would have given 5 stars except a few times the book seemed to go on long tangents, mostly in the dialogue between the sisters.
I really enjoyed this book - this was the first book by Kaarin Slaughter I had listened to and I do intend on picking another one! The narrator was great wonder and easy to listen to.
Twists and turns abound in this lawyer based mystery. Good book but difficult to believe
