    this was an interesting read!

This was a simple story with easy to follow common plot. The characters were simple to guess their roles throughout the story. The saving grace of the book was the epilogue that eventually provided the readers as to the title of this book. Otherwise, I wish the character developments were stronger and much more deeper, especially the evolving relationship between the captive and the captor. This could have really brought the plot of the story to a heightened level regardless of it's predictability. I definitely appreciated having multiple narrators reading the roles of the 3 to 4 main characters in which the story unfolds through their voices.

overall I liked it, a bit repetitive in some areas. ending was interesting.

The reviews were so good that I was excited to read this. Personally I found this to be extremely slow and I got about halfway through before I quit listening. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen and it just did not keep my attention at all.

Hooked from the very first chapter. A great story, loved the way the story unfolded using before and after the disappearance snapshots.

  • K A H

A fabulous book with twisty plot line. So much better than the movie which did inspire me to read the book. The author has just enough detail to keep you engaged while not leaving you mired in detail. Recommended for drives or commutes - not a beach or cruise read. Hope you Enjoy this book experience

Although I found some of the prose a bit cliche I loved the story and the characters and was very involved and emotionally drained by the end - a great read (listen)

  • tanya l

This book kept me captivated from the first sentence. The plot twists and turns and always kept me guessing what was coming next. The narrator was easy to understand. The ending was a bombshell. I never saw it coming.

  • Holly H

What a great story! Loved the twists and turns and the end was a surprise. The narration was a bit annoying but I did like that there were three distinct voices for three distinct characters.

  • Linda C

  • Victoria L

It was not my favorite read, I didn't love the flow of the book.

  • Mariana Toro

I liked the book, but I think it's slow and ends abruptly without resolving the trama. Very well narrated though.

  • Paula Balchin

The book started off slow. Took me a while to get into it but then mid way I couldn't put it down.

  • Kristi Pallen

This was a little hard to follow in the beginning, but it is a great story! I just finished, and I miss the characters already. Loved it!

  • Snovia Zellous

This was my first audio book and I thought I'd hate listening to people read to me in horrible renditions of characters but this book was absolutely delectable to the very end! It drew me in right away, I drive a lot for work so It was like a movie playing the whole time! I didn't see the plot twist coming at the end AT ALL!! Bravo! I'm a harsh reviewer but for this book 5 stars.

  • Sharon Spofford

Very good book from beginning to the end. It was a fast read and didn't disappoint.

  • lisa patro lorentz

  • Nattaphon Jengsuwan

The story is good. Very interesting and that you got hooked up very quickly! I enjoyed narrations the most. I like how she expressed her feeling through her voice too. Very believable!

  • Anna Maria Kanis

The epilogue that everyone thinks is good, I think is the most expected! Right through the middle I figured it out but hoped I was wrong. Also the narrators were pretty bad. The woman in the beginning, her constant breathing between sentences and her bad American accent!

  • Sarah Heller

I enjoyed the audiobook. Great to listen to in car, or while on walks. Great book from start to finish.

  • Sandy Young

Good to the last drop! I live near the Chicago area so the references to familiar places added a smidge more appeal. But you don't have to live near Chicago to love this book!

  • Marie Schutz

Loved this book. Kept me interested the entire time, great story line, great twist at the end. I also didn't mind the narration too bad.

  • cyndi shurtleff

  • Tina Perez

A very surprise ending, I did not see that coming. Highly recommended . I enjoyed each character. The narrators did a great job of conveying the story.

  • Chantelle Wood

This book had me captured from the start. I like how it was narrated by different speakers which kept things very interesting. I was waiting to here from Mia and when finally she spoke at the end and it totally twisted the story I was shocked. Great read.

  • Sarah Hollenbeck

Well-paced, but lacking in any original character development. Stereotypes (including.racist ones) abound! The voice of Eve as Gabe is unbearable.

  • Emily Yeskel

Very slow...did not keep me going. The best part was the epilogue at the end.

  • Colette McDuff

I love this book!! Kept me on edge the whole time. From start to finish, a great thriller.

  • Lisa Kinsey

This book was enjoyable. I looked forward to reading more from this author.

  • Mandy Jones

This book had me from the beginning! The detective's narration is a little cheesy (he does a private eye monologue voice) but I still really like that there are different narrators for the main characters.

  • Linley Coward

Enjoy the different narrators and story line. Particularly the twist at the end.
