As the community is swept up in the eerie charm of the Whitby Goth Festival, coinciding with Halloween, a creepy Victorian circus ghosts into town amidst the festivities.

For DCI Finnegan, he's dreaming of a rare, and peaceful weekend with his wife and cherished niece. With a prowler on the loose, and the sudden mysterious disappearance of a young girl, his dream quickly turns to nightmare.

Aided by the mercurial DI Kumar and steadfast DS Stoker, this formidable trio is thrust into a murky labyrinth of urgency and dread, as a dense sea fog rolls into the harbour.

Can they catch a shadow before innocence is lost forever? Or is it already too late?
