Unabridged Audiobook
It was ok, kind of kept me interested.
I recently read The Grimm Society by Chanda Hahn, and I found it to be an intriguing start to a young adult fantasy series. The story centers on Everly, who gains the ability to see creatures called Grimms after experiencing a profound loss. This new talent leads her to Gravemark, an academy for individuals like her, where she encounters mysteries, magical trials, and a complicated love triangle. The world-building is immersive, blending familiar tropes from popular YA fantasy with unique elements that give the story its own flavor. I appreciated the school setting and how it tied into Everly’s journey of self-discovery and empowerment. While the love triangle—a recurring theme in the genre—felt a bit predictable, it added some tension and emotional depth to the story. Listening to the audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden enhanced my experience; her performance really brought the characters to life. The pacing kept me engaged, though at times I wanted more exploration of certain relationships and lore. Overall, The Grimm Society is a solid recommendation for fans of magical academies, dark fantasy, and stories of resilience. It left me curious to see how the series unfolds in future installments.
