Summary
It's 1942, and President Roosevelt fearing Guadalcanal may fall to the Japanese, orders all the money in Hawaii collected, burned, and replaced with money that has Hawaii printed across the back of each bill. Funny money the Japs will not be able to use against the United States.

Anybody who is somebody wants a little of the money for themselves....

Only one tough private detective is standing in the way. He survived Bloody Ridge now he has to survive Chinatown!

Steven Walker takes that historical event and weaves a noir detective tale that captivates readers and holds them on the edge of their seats.

Four badly wounded and medically discharged veterans of the Guadalcanal campaign become private detectives in Chinatown on the island of Hawaii and, by a confluence of events, get involved in fighting corrupt government officials, the mob, and Captain Chin of the Chinatown police.

Gunny Mac, Navy Cross recipient for his bravery on Bloody Ridge, becomes one thing he hated his whole life, a civilian, and must adjust not serving his Marines. He buys a three-dollar book and becomes a private eye.

Gunny Wojohowitz...Mac's best friend needs Mac to help him find the one man he needs to kill.

Lt. Burke...a Naval officer and spoiled blue-blood Harvard graduate, sent to the Marine Corps as punishment, needs Mac to search for redemption.

Lt. McCaffey, Padre of the First Marine Battalion on Guadalcanal and Navy Cross recipient, is not the same Jesuit priest after his head wound. He empties the Naval hospital's psych unit with hilarious results to protect his friend Gunny Mac.

All thrown together for one last fight...one last battle for their friends and their country!
