Unabridged Audiobook
Great for understanding the political lead up to the start of WWI and the turning points of the first month of fighting. Also the barbarity of the German army as it moved through Belgium and entered France, executing civilians and burning towns, barbarity that continued in WWII.
Compelling narration with an intricate, yet accessible level of detail. If you have any interest in the geo political forces leading up to WWI, this is worth a listen! If you find you like Tuchman’s style, A Distant Mirror is also an excellent listen.
Simply the best historical book of any war.
